Looks like a cool game. Why did this turn into a spin off thread??

Because every thread with good news for the PS3 must be derailed.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Hahahahhah.. thats a funny gif.. but i hate to say it isn't really good news rather than just 'news' since we don't know anything about the game

It could turn out to be fantastic news, but we don't know for sure

Kinda Offtopic: This might be the best place to ask this.. but what is the point of Beautiful Katamari.. I downloaded an E3 2007 trailer and it was just, a big ball become bigger as it rolled over things.. is there more to it or am I missing what the appeal is for this game?

Well that's what they're doing. The Katamari creator and Namco are bringing this new game to PS3.

Namco HAS to produce a certain amount of games for the PS3... it's part of their contract with Sony, they got payed to do this before the PS3 started having problems (sales wise). Remember the Ken Kutaragi deal?? This game is being made to uphold their end of the deal. So I expect at least another 4 games from Namco for the PS3. The sooner they make the games... the sooner they can walk away from the system.

So I can quote you that after Tekken 6, this and Soul Calibur IV and one other game there will be no more Namco games on the PS3?

You seem to have a lot of inside information on Namco and such tell us more. It seems that the PS3 is definitely doomed as everyone is walking away from it...

Yeesh, this thread has already seen it's fair amount of hyperbole. But anyways, am I the only one that remembers when Namco Bandai made the announcement that the PS3 wasn't selling as well as they'd hoped? In that press release they included the amount of games they were developing for each system.

The company sure does make a hell of a lot of games! but the PS3 was seeing the least at 26. The Wii number was something like 42, and even the Xbox was getting somewhere in the 30's. Of course I'm sure many of those games were just in the planning stages with one or two people working on them.

So regardless of this announcement, the Wii is seeing the most namco bandai support and the PS3 is seeing the least, but all platforms are still being fairly well supported

No, you're not the only one remembering similar numbers.

outlawauron, the reason this thread was derailed is because ckmlb is a hypocrite and stuck a nice piece of flamebait in the first post.

"So much for the claims of Japanese support for PS3 weakening. "

Case in point: Dewey's Adventure and Zack and Wiki are new titles for the Wii with plenty of effort put into them, but ckmlb will say the Wii has no support because it's not getting MGS4 and RE5.  Of course, when the PS3 gets a new IP, rather than an established franchise (which is going to the Wii and 360) that new IP is obviously a sign of increased developer support.

Katamari is one of those games that one thinks will suck but then one starts playing it and cant stop playing several hours later. Basically the gameplay is to roll a ball until it is big enough for whatever purposes in the game. Katamari is a cult game, nobody untersands what is so special about it until they play it.

New game is cool.

But this thread sucks. The fanboys are killing me.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

In fact ,the PS3 games announced were 26 and the 360 ones 27 .Looking as one of the 27 of the 360 will be their version of Gundam Mussou there you have the difference .Another thing ,the agreement some of you are mentioning ,is the games created under the label Cellius ,this is a joint-venture between Sony and Namco and they are creating games exclusively for the PS3 to take advantage of the Cell .Those games were announced some months ago ,there were 3 of them .

Playstation 3 is getting lots of support ,I dont know how can anyone deny this .

Hmm okay great but I will not be happy before I see a trailer, screens, read a preview of this game.

This will be pretty interesting to watch. It's clear the folks behind Katamari are creative geniuses, can't wait to see what they put together for this new game.

LOL... actually I admit I was wrong or what I wrote was off base.  Although it is in their contract to make a set number of PS3 games, I'm not sure how many it was but the deal with getting Ken (which later fell through) had a set number attached to it.  This doesn't in fact mean that they will stop making PS3 games...  I'd be pissed if they did ;) Namco makes some great games.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Bandai Namco Games unleashed a big surprise at Sony's PlayStation Premier event today in Tokyo with the announcement of an all new game from Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi.

Titled Nobi Nobi Boy, all we have on this PlayStation 3 title are just a couple of pieces of artwork. The artwork and name ("Nobi" can mean "to stretch" in Japanese) suggests that the game will center around a flexible wormlike creature of some form.

So much for the claims of Japanese support for PS3 weakening.

Whoa whoa now, Ck, that last line is flame bait. There is no question that PS3 support from Japanese companies is weakening. They said so themselves. SquareEnix even officially said that they would not make more games for the system unless/until sales of hardware picked up!

Saying that support is weakening is very different than saying there will be no support at all. I fully expect there to be a good number of nice titles for the Playstation this generation.

See how that third article says that PS3 support will be "reduced by 40 percent?" That means these companies will still be making games for the Playstation system, just not as many as before. That is the definition of weakening support. I don't think anyone is saying there will literally be no support at all -- or if anyone is saying that, they're clearly wrong.
