I just wanted to point out something small here. Avi Arad isn't directing this movie, only producing it. That still leaves room for Brett Ratner to direct after he finishes destroying the God of War movie.

This is true but the question was will it flop.  I think that it all depends on who the have playing the Drake character.  Also they have to pretend that it isn't a video game like someone aready mentioned.  If the right person that appeals to people that would see this movie is cast then it would do well.  You couldn't pay me to see this or any other video game adaptation.

Scratch that.  You could pay me to see it I suppose. 

I guess it depends on the cover system they use. Also, they will need an endless supply of pirates.

Flop it will.

The movie could actually be good. Unlike Mortal Kombat or Resident Evil, the story in Uncharted is actually decent. The reason that many video game based movies are bad is either because they deviate from the game's story(like Final Fantasy:The Spirits Within) or because the story itself sucks(anybody who think Resident Evil has ever had a good story is most likely a fan of cheesy horror movies)

If they do it right it will not fail. Get some marketing done properly.

A focus on the backstory? I played Uncharted to shoot pirates and to enjoy cheesey one-liners, not for an engaging story. I hope this director doesn't totally miss the point and make an overly serious, story-driven movie.

I might see it.
