I dont undrstand how are you guys using scores based everybody else's opinion? and the 360 has more games of course its going to have better scores in there favor (in who ever's opinion) the point i was trying to make was that how is the 360's library better? somebody please explain. that scoring crap dont mean anything, i was trying to say (before those 2...3 clowns started to say i was crazy) ps3 and 360 basically have the same 3rd party games yes, but witch of the console exclusives do you like? you like gears and fable then the 360 is for you. you like resistance and LBP then the ps3 is for you. and you get the multiplats to go with them. you decide witch system is the best for "you"......how am i crazy?

that's absolutely right.

Unfortunately is this thread about the library of both consoles and a library contains every single game available on that platform.

You can't just pick 2 games out of 474/214

@Skeeuk

Agreed (though Microsoft has some aces left for 2009) . Some 2 year old games are very good  => Gears, Saints Row, PGR3, DOA4, Dead Rising are all worth a buy

I was giving an example thats why i chose 2 games for each, of course they both have more exclusive's than that. and i think my point still stands, the 360 has way more games but does it have "more better" games? without using the scoring system tell me what you think....thats all just an opinion im sorry.

How does the xbox 360 have better game library than PS3?
  • OPINION!!!!!

THANK YOU.

To all you people who say Metacritic is the answer, you're pretty much saying that opinions of critics are far superior to anybody elses. Lots of people sharing a common opinion is never a fact. Think for yourselves.

Example: I couldn't give two craps if Disgaea 3 gets 6's and 7's. To me, Disgaea 3 is a game that deserves 11's. Halo is considered to be GOD amongst critics, yet I dislike the series. Same goes for Gears of War.

No we are trying to use the most objective data we can without saying mine is better than yours the simple fact is in the numbers if you dont want to talk quality 474 games vs 214.  360 has more games which means bigger and better library

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Xbox live:mywiferocks

I'm not the barometer by which all games are gauged, but I got a 360 in 2007. I went back and got a ton of games I missed. I bought 2 360 games on Tuesday. I play it daily. I got a PS3 in June, and I still just own Uncharted, MGS4, Heavenly Sword, and Motorstorm. I want to buy PS3 games, but here I am.......

I own 40+ 360
I own 4+ PS3

Still ,its the same. Most of the 15 90+ games on the 360 are on the PS3 too ....just with a lower score because released some months later. For the user is the same ,and for the richness of the library is the same .....we can argue it has a better library because in gamerankings those equally good games have a 0.2 difference between them because released late on the PS3.

The old sports games are outdated ,and still count for a good 15+ games in the 80+ range for the 360.Yes ,it was an advantage back then ...when the PS3 wasnt even in the market.Right now ,they arent as you can buy the 2008 and 2009 versions for the PS3 the 2008 at discounted price too.

The Live games may be great ,not denying it.BUT ,and its a big BUT ,they are scored based on their price and limitations.A 90 for a Live arcade game isnt the same that for a full release. If Rez was released with a 69 price tag I assure you it wouldnt get so good an score. But the PSN games are many times 29-39 dollars and have up to 9GB of data(Siren for example). Its comparing apples and oranges, and the apples of the Live make for a massive bulk of the difference of the libraries in metacritic.

I think my points are perfectly valid. If we would take out the Live/PSN only games ,the old sports games ,GHII (useless if you have the superior GH3 with a lot more downloadable content) and some other little adjusts you would see a very different landscape.

ok just for you I will delete every game which was released on 360 and PS3, delete old games with a basically same sequel released on both consoles (sport games and GHII - not sequels in general) and every XBLA/PSN game

360 games 90+ :

The Orange Box (I won't delete that cause it was really better)
Gears of War
Halo 3
Rock Band 2 (time exclusive)
Mass Effect
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Forza Motorsport 2

PS3 games 90+ :

Metal Gear Solid 4

360 games 80+ :

Call of Duty 2
Burnout Revenge
Project Gotham Racing 3
Project Gotham Racing 4
Dead or Alive 4
Dead Rising
Viva Pinata
Crackdown
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
Test Drive Unlimited
Hitman: Blood Money
Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Saints Row
Tales of Vesperia
Ninja Gaiden II
Perfect Dark Zero
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Bully: Scholarship Edition (game is better than PS2 version)
Tomb Raider: Legend (Anniversary isn't a sequel)

PS3 games 80+ :

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Resistance: Fall of Man
MLB 08: The Show
MotorStorm
Warhawk
SingStar
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
SingStar Vol. 2

This has to be one of the most pointless threads ever, honest question from the OP which was given an honest answer in the third post. Should have ended there. It just goes to show how biased and irrational the PS3 fans are. Fine, argue about graphics...valid, argue about tech specs...also valid, argue about eventuall sales and which one will come out on top, it can still go either way, so both sides have legitimate points........ but to argue about which console currently has the better line-up is complete nonsense. To say the PS3 is even with, or close to, the 360 as far as games are concerned shows how unwilling some people are to accept reality. The original question wasn't about personal tastes and preferences, it asked which library was better. Metacritic answers that question. It you disagree, than you're simply lying to yourself.

Ohhhhhhh then we should be using YOUR opinion huh? Don't be foolish. Using opinions of a whole group of people is much better than using opinions of you or other fanboys.

How? By coming out earlier, having easier development tools, and paying more for exclusives. Software also sells better on the 360, but not enough to make games go exclusive vs multiplat.

yeah of course. With the power of mathematics ;)

probability calculus: It's more likely, that a higher percentage of unbiased gamers would prefer the 360 library over the PS3 library.

reasons:

1. more games (more variety)

2. (I know you won't like to hear it, but) review scores represent the opinion of gamers. Reviewers are gamers, so when more reviewers like a game and give them great scores, the chances that the gamers like the game is higher.

But please don't say Halo 3, GTA 4 are bad and games like Disgaea 3 are perfect.

The simple solution:

More people played Halo 3 and GTA 4, so it's no surprise that there are quite some who didn't like them. However the majority really like these games, but those don't get our attention.

For games like Disgaea 3 it's also simple. Only some people are buying those kind of games and that's because they know exactly, that they will like it. Would more people buy Disgaea 3 (or insert other "underrated" game here) I'm sure there will be many, who dislike the game.

You keep saying that, but it's blatantly false. The truth is there isn't a single game that fits that description. You listed two "examples" in your earlier post, but both games scored mid-80s on both systems. There is only one game where you could even try to make that argument: The Orange Box. However, it didn't score lower on the PS3 because it was released later; it scored lower because reviewers thought it was an inferior version. (I realize some owners of the PS3 version think the reviewers are wrong about that, but that's not the issue.) There are some games released later on PS3 that scored a bit lower, but none of them scored 90+ on the 360.

That said, most of your other points have some merit. Some of the high-rated 360 games have multiplatform sequels, which reduces the value of the earlier versions. Some are XBLA games, which are a bit of an apples-to-oranges comparison. Then there's the big one, which you didn't mention: many are console exclusives - also available on the PC - and not true exclusives. That last one is important for anyone who plays games on a high-end PC, but doesn't matter much to the majority of gamers.

If you go through the Metacritic/GameRankings lists and manually remove multiplatform games, downloadable games, and games with multiplatform sequels, you'll find that 360 still has a higher-rated list of console exclusives. If you then remove PC ports, the list of true exclusives is pretty comparable between the two.
