Nintendo has called it a "third platform" according to many news websites, and it's their opinion that is the priority, so...

I would like to see DS, DS Lite and DSi figures separated. Would be interesting to see which one sells the most.

Look on wikipedia for Ninty's shipment info - not as frequent as VGChartz, but good for comparing that sort of thing

From Nintendo's conference:

The "Nintendo DSi" is the third model of the Nintendo DS platform, following Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite, ...

Just like the PSP 2k and 3k.

Added into sales.

Should help the DS break 100 million pretty quickly.

Just like they have said, DSi is not a new DS, but a design revision like the DS Lite (but with different features). Sales will go with DS.

It's going to be the same, It's an upgrade not a new system, if DSi wasn't included in DS sales then the backwards compatable PS3 sales should be excluded from PS3, the 360 elite w/ HDMI should be excluded, and so should the PSP 2000 and 3000 (didn't they add a microphone?)

Thanks. I couldn't find any first-party evidence for or against the quote. Looks like it was out of context then. In that case, I agree that it should be added in to the other DS sales like all previous hardware revisions.

Assuming they are replacing the Lite, then they should be kept together

I think they should be separate if it's downloaded game (much like if they ever track downloadable PSP, PSOne, XBox Originals and the way VC is tracked separate). Physical disks should be in the same category as the DS.

He was talking about hardware, not software.

Oh...tha'ts a no brainer then, it will be tracked the same, it's not a new system, but a revision of the old system.

Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color both counted as Game Boy sales, no?
