Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else pissed their Gamecube collection is obsolete from Wii-Makes?

I have a 3r party GCN games so Im not pissed. The Metroid Primes are musts.

I would be interested in a Wind Waker remake. I checked Amazon as I was reading through this thread and it is $60 minimum for it plus I would have to get the gc controller so pretty much $80 for Wind Waker to play on my Wii since I went with the ps2 last gen and that is way to steep even for a Zelda game.

According to Wiifanboy:

IGN has confirmed that the "Play on Wii" Pikmin port is more than just a repackaging -- it and the other Play on Wii GameCube games will have updated Wiimote controls. Pikmin is actually the second of these to be released, and it'll hit Japan on December 25 of this year for 3,800 yen ($36). It'll be preceded on December 11 by the game we officially nominate Least Likely to Benefit from New Controls: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. If these games are released here, we would expect them to be slightly cheaper than the Japanese price (like all games).

Titles announced for 2009 include Mario Tennis, Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Pikmin 2, and -- best of all -- Chibi-Robo! It'll be interesting to see if Skip makes it a point-and-click like it was originally.

$60!

I got my copy of Windwaker when it launched at £30... and it came with OoT/Master Quest.... so it should have launched in the USA at something like $40-45.... surely you can find it for less than that.

And no you are very wrong, The Windwaker is the best of the best.... if people pay $70 for Guitar Hero with a cheap ass hunk of plastic, Windwaker is worth it with the brilliant GC controller.... still, you should be able to find it much cheaper I am sure.

On Amazon UK there are only copies from other sellers, but I can find it r £15... and an official controller for £7. (Wavebirds are rare though so they are still going for £25)

I can get it cheaper used, but the only ones selling it new on Amazon are $60.  The controllers are cheaper than $20, but I added in shipping.

I hope that they are going to sell MP 1+2 in the same package for the price of 1 full game. Same goes for Pikmin.

This entire thread fails... how can you complain about a system that is FULLY compatible with all games and peripherals from its predecessor just because Nintendo decided to release updates to classics that are no longer widely available, except at second-hand places like Gamestop? Nintendo is doing that to satisfy an obvious chunk of its user base as well as to *gasp* make money from sales it would otherwise lose from people buying used copies.

Hell, neither the 360 or PS3 are fully B/C (yes i know the 60gig PS3 is but that has been discontinued), and for the 360 only a select number games are compatible, or you have to purchase them over Xbox Live. This is one of many things that Nintendo learned from the past and did right this generation... one reason PS2 was so successful was that it allowed instant access to a huge library of quality titles for new owners as well as an all-in-one solution for existing PS1 owners.

Besides... this is NINTENDO we're talking about people... they are the all-time king of re-releasing games! So why would anyone be surprised by this move?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I hope this is not because the current lack of core games for the Wii.
Also i wonder if Microsoft or Sony could repackage some Ps2 and Xbox games in higher resolution and or ad online play.
