They're gonna let you run software directly from SD cards, after a new Wii update in spring 2009.

Yeah I've been off watching Cinderella Man and I come on here and this was the first thread I saw. I didn't realize the conference was on. I am thoroughly impressed by everything I'm hearing from Nintendo. It sucks this had to be done in Japan first, because watching a live stream of these announcements would have been epic.

So it's Pikmin on disc with new controls then? No, DD? Very interesting. Luigi's Mansion, Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime would also be great shoe-ins for this.

Oh....Metroid.  I actually threw it in the Wii the other night and as good a game as it is, it's hard going back to traditional controls now.  How about a Metroid pack (Prime and Echoes) with IR controls.

Oh, I didn't realize they were "Wiimakes" with new controls, I thought they were just a re-branding and re-selling of the same games.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Oh, they're remaking the games with Wii-mote controls?

Ohh...

Well. that should be fun.

If they do that they would sell at least 2 games to me, MP1 & MP2.

Mario Sunshine and Zelda: Wind Waker with Wii controls!? : )

also, maybe i'll get the chance to play MP1 and MP2 with Wii-controls!!

awesome idea!! : )

When they said they are developing Pikmin. They didn't mean this correct? LOL

I assume that, even if there are new controls, old controls will still be an option (they haven't enforced Wiimote + nunchuk controls since TP).

I think this is great, especially for later GC games that might have been missed by many, and are more expensive to pick up second-hand (e.g. Chibi Robo, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door).

If given the option, I'd pick up the two I just mentioned, and Pikmin 2.

Metroid Prime 1 and 2 for Wii are already in development.

I am the confirmation.

It was basically a certainty to begin with, but thanks for the voice of rumor. Metroid is probably the first game anyone thinks of the moment this question comes up and I couldn't imagine it escaping Nintendo's attention. I'm just suprised they're leading off with Pikmin.

I think these titles will fall between "ports" and "remakes" - they won't be basic ports (no point, as the Wii can play GC games anyway) - but they won't be complete, full budget remakes.

Its a good move though - take Pikmin, up the textures/output resolution, add Wiimote support, online(?) support and release for a budget price.

Wind Waker? Luigis Mansion would be awesome for a Wiimake (M+) - although I really would love to see a true sequel :)

Metroid is obvious, as may be the Rogue Squadron titles...?
