Forums - Nintendo - Square Gains Weight, Intrigued By Wii Balance Board

No doubt there will be games with Wii Board only...but I'm sure Nintendo has thought of games like FPS rail shooters where 4 players would want a Wii Board and a Wiimote...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

"...something we're interested in " Pretty basic, non-telling, response. In the end, it is still a peripheral/add-on. While I see it being implemented by Nintendo (1080 franchise, new Skating IP?), I do not see it getting 3rd party support.

I would like to hear how he would plan to implement it on RPG titles and actually adding a level of immersion.

Protect PS3 to end and hate on Wii, much? More RPGs for us, regardless!

... That's DonWii you're talking to ... Don ... Wii ... ... Wii ...

This is different from the average peripheral...it's going to be marketed like crazy, and will be the next thing since Wii Sports...I don't see why third parties won't join the craze.

Fanboys complain about "casual games" now, and they'll complain about "exercise games" later...but the WiiBoard provides lots of opportunities for new control options, FPSs, rhythm games, RPGs...?, pedals for racers, etc.

It'd rock as pedals for a racing game...which is why I REALLY want to know if you can use 4 WiiBoards and 4 Wiimotes at the same time...

I think that once they get the Balance Board to the right size for all markets they are going to use it in Disaster: Day of Crisis. I am guessing ,yes, but just think of the mechanics of it all. If there is an earthquake you are forced to adjust pressure from each leg to compensate and at the same time you're having a shoot-out. How you stand would effect your aim and accuracy.
Or even if you have objectives like the one in- game screen-shot of the lead character trying to cross a bridge... instead of using the wii-mote would it be better to use you own weight? That would be pretty submersive, yes?

the really big news of nintendo for the gamers in the E3 was the wii balance board, the wii fit was great for the casual market but the wii balance board with the wiimote and nunchuck can make more interactive games, i want try games with this, maybe the next can be a wii walker, a wii shoes, or a wii lens.

Almost every idea that you guys come up with requires Wiimotes and Wiiboard at the same time...they never showed the two in conjunction, did they? That's what I'm worried about.

Yes, they have, and yes, you can use both simultaneously.
