The actual interview is two pages long and deals mostly with Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, but on the 2nd page, the interviewer asks a question that leads to discussion about Wii Fit.

Do you have interest in using the microphone or Wi-Fi in future DS titles?

Toriyama: We're definitely interested in the multiplayer and local connection element. And we'd like to look into it for the future. We don't know about the mic function so much because it might not be too convenient if you're playing on the train. Right now we're mostly interested in Wii Fit. We're really intrigued by it.

"...something we're interested in " Pretty basic, non-telling, response. In the end, it is still a peripheral/add-on. While I see it being implemented by Nintendo (1080 franchise, new Skating IP?), I do not see it getting 3rd party support.

I would like to hear how he would plan to implement it on RPG titles and actually adding a level of immersion.

I don't think so DonWii, he actually changes the subject from a question about the DS Mic to WiiFit, that doesn't seem like a basic response to me.

He seems really intrigued by it :)

given that the wii board is likely gonna sell a lot... and that certainly nintendo will make games other than wii fit on it, 3rd parties would be smart to have some kind of preliminary plans for it.

truth is, any rational developer would wait until there's simply more information regarding the wii board. nobody knows anything about it yet, and not even nintendo has mastered the technicalities. so having anything officially planned is a waste of resources.

Maybe it could used for turned based RPGs with real time battles. I could see them using it for a more intricate dodge system(left or right) and using the pointer to highlight the guy you are controlling with the Wii board maybe somthing more advanced who knows.

I think this is really good news.

It's certain that third party publishers are going to wait for Nintendo to till the ground and create a large user base for the WiiBoard, but at least big names like Square are vocally showing their interest in the device. I'm sure many more third party publishers feel the same way behind closed doors.

The Wii board will sell plenty if they sell a wide range of software aimed at the fat bird market.

In the USA fitness DVDs and strange shaped fitness apparatus seem to be big business in an attempt to encourage people to lose weight.

and still everyone in EU belives that all americans are fat :D
