I dont think that the DS would even exist if the PSP wouldent... Nintendo made the DS to be able to compete against Sony in a different way. Going head-to head wouldent have been a good decision, so they opted for something different, and it was a success. IMO if the PSP wouldent have been the market would be still ruled by a Game Boy ;)

I agree? but this is the truth

Nope the DS was announced March 03, then revealed at the e3 2003, at the same point as the PSP. Nintendo must have spent a lot of time developing the DS, so it most likely wasnt influenced by the PSP.

They did rush out the ds, after knowing sony was doing a handheld trick

whats a psp?? lol (ALERT! THIS IS SARCASM!)

i would say at least 3/4 of teh psp total sales would be on the ds now,

i have to knock off a 1/4 do to brand loyalty

I don't think it would be too much more. Maybe 5 mil out of the PSP's sales. The two handhelds appeal to two generally different markets. "Hardcore" gamers will likely own both.

This. And am glad Nintendo has some competition.

4 ≈ One

i thin DS would be at 90 million sinc eit woulf have meant games such as monster hunter would be on DS

Some of the imaginary questions you guys come up with can be quite funny. It's like me deliberating what my kid would look like if I was not born. Anyway I don't think it would make much difference. I doubt there are more than 10million that own a PSP but not a DS. And though 10 million may seem like alot it's not that much for DS that can sell 30 million in a year.

Maybe like 9 million more. Most of the people have both, and DS and psp are aimed at different markets.

DS would not have come out. Game Boy Ultra would be around 30M now.

The DS would of sold less, Sony brought a great product to the market and Nintendo was forced to up their game.

i don't think so, the psp its selling great.

have been outselling the 360 for a long time and its almost double the sales 360.

its half what the DS have sold though but it managed to outsell DS a while in 2005.

major problem its the piracy, but the system its still selling
thankfully japan its working on games (square enix, capcom, level 5) and imsoniac its doing a great game(resistance psp).

there is hope a GT PSP shows up someday, and a revision its comming soon that will fight piracy.
