I actually completely agree with this. I've said this before in another thread:

The Wii is going to be the only console to win NOT because of it's software. But I guess they went the right direction this gen. Sony and M$ have said "you can have all the hardware you want, but it means nothing without software" or something of that nature. Ninty just took that train of thought and wrecked it....but it that good for gamers?

What? If not for its software, what do people buy the Wii for?

Like it or not, people are buying software for the Wii. Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Music, etc. are software. The Wii sells because of its games.

If there's one console that isn't selling due to its software (in terms of games, at least), it's the PSP.

Name software that either doesn't have "Wii" or staple Nintendo franchises in it. It can't be the staple first party titles that are making it sell, because otherwise the GCN and the N64 would have sold trememndously (I don't think that the GCN couldn't get to 30 Million because of Super Mario Sunshine, and that all of a sudden Mario Galaxy turned things around). And the whole "Wii (insert game name here)" focus that Nintendo is going after is what's making all the hardcore Ninty fans get pissed.

Perhaps you didn't see the stats from nintendo and NPD that showed 3rd party software on the wii outsold TOTAL software on 360 and PS3.  That's just 3rd party software.  That was from last year so we have yet to see it from this year but after the holiday season i think we'll see the same thing again.

I'm sick of the wii doesn't sell software argument or 3rd parties don't sell.  It's been proven wrong over and over.  You might have a case in Japan, but there certainly isn't a lot of big names released yet from 3rd parties for wii in Japan and the japanese console market is getting pretty small.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Who cares 360 crushes them both. Its pretty pathetic how PS3 + Wii userbase >>360 user base but still loses

Because its the 360's strongest region...

Not only is it the 360's strongest region but the only advertisement that is routinely played is the 360 version which also advertises the price cut for the Xbox 360 arcade,199.99. Advertisements actually help game sales.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

i think Wii version will more overall, people will play it with friends as they do with other games so more people are going to buy it!!

Wii doesn't seem to be a sprinter like the HD. Wii seem like marathons. I guess we will see if this SWFU is much of a marathon runner or a sprinter.

It's of no use arguing with blind Wii haters like BMaker11 or Diomedes1976 (Who also trolls on IGN using the account Diomedes1977).

Lego Star Wars sold best on the Wii, and as it happened last time, it had a worse opening but ended up being the best selling version by miles. People said the same about GH3 and then ate crow. Wii games DO have long, long legs, it's not an excuse but an attribute Wii games have.

Look, by next week the Wii version will be over the PS3 version and before the holidays it will be over the 360 version.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

@trestres, i was under the impression it sold best on the 360, in america and world, despite a wii lead in both, or am i wrong? also 3rd parties only passed 360 sometime this somer not ps3+360, and that includes mario and sonic at the olympics, .... that would be like a halo racer not made by ms being a 3rd party, so i feel that one is bs, there are plenty of threads where it is compared, and basicaly the wii helps out its pap, the big N, and all of the Big Ns stubby little children, and then, what ever scraps 3rd parties can get they do... its a tough question as to what will motivate wide dispersal of sells to major non nintendo franchies into major million sellers, 3rd parties should make up the balance of software sales not the minority, otherwise you end up with a dreamcast (nintendo, is the only one who has a back catalog to avoid that fate, as well as rabid fans that it raised though child hood looks over at nes ,snes, n64 hooked up to tv)

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

At the long run the wii version will outsell even the xbox-version.

Wii version would've sold more if the light saber battles were 1:1 assuming that people always wanted to try it out in that manner. Besides, weren't all the versions disappointing anyway (not sales wise)?

"I didnt think this would happen in NA but it did!"

14.3 million Wii owners bought more Force Unleashed copies than 5.9m PS3 owners?

SHOCKING. Worldwide HD versions outsold Wii version by 3:1 on roughly the same install base. I think its safe to say that the HD version of big games will remain the premier one.
