I would disagree

Till June 12 I was firm on saying SMG was the best game this gen & one of the best games of all times due to the variety & wonderment (if thats even a word) of each planet

 

But on June 12 I finally played MGS4.....until the end of Act 2 SMG was still winning.

But it was at the END of Act 3.....that cutscene at the end of Act 3 ({bang} {bang})....that MGS4 showed what a true cinematic masterpiece it was.

Thats when It was equal to SMG.....then due to Act 4 & Act 5 it overtook SMG as the best game this gen & best game ever!

But SUper MArio GAlaxy is no doubts an epic masterpiece from nintendo. I just wished we could have free DLC where we got a say.....xmas planet, easter planet or like zelda was releasing so we got a Hyrule planet n so on.

 

Will disagree with the 3 of you. Seeing as 1 is a Sony game and 1 is a Nintendo Game, I'll take the rode less traveled and go with a Microsoft game. Halo 3 ftw.

Halo 3???? Your joking right??? That's the most overrated game this gen (next to GTAIV).  I have to say that the Cinematics of MGS4 made it truly an epic game (and the gameplay was good too) but SMG has overall better gameplay and impressed me more than MGS4.

 

Ah crap... Just read the sentence before Halo 3 ftw.

My reasons...

1. Sony and Nintendo games had already been played.

2. IMO, Halo 3 is the 360's best game.

3. Not terribly overrated. Scores were fair. And anyways. MGS4 and GTA IV are the same thing. People really want the game so they give it a high score. Well, that's what I think happens. IMO, GTA IV got a 9. No higher and MGS4 got a 9.5. Halo 3 with a 9.5 and SMG with a 9.7. Would have been a ten, but some power-ups were annoying (SPRING SUIT SUUUUUUUUCK!S!)

Halo 3 overated? Your joking right? At least it has got a very enjoyable and fun campaign and online. At least it aint a movie based game.

It's also got a very mediocre gameplay. The game is not even close to being the best shooter out there, much less the top game.

I played it beat like 4 or 5 bosses and had 20something stars.
I've been waiting around for mgs4 since mgs3, and mario always has "good" installments. Not great all the time, but usually worth the money. MGS4 came out and I stopped playing it.
As far as 6 save slots go, it doesn't really bother me that there are free slots available. I don't like when someone beats my games before me, I'm sorry that is so hard for you guys to understand. It really sets up a block between me and the game. sucks to be me I guess.
Man I don't know what to saym you don't believe me you don't believe me, what can i do.

They are allowed to not like the game. I like platformers for the imagination, fast pace, pretty (pretty=/= "good") graphics, open ended exploration elements, and collection. SMG had some inagination but most of it felt very recycled. SMS had originality, and 64 brought the series into 3D. Only good mario game without originality is Mario Land 2. SMG is slow pacedl; mario runs slow, his side jump has a delay effect, ect. Levels are for the most part linear, and the only levels that were creative were the beach bowl, toy time, and honey hive galaxy. There were some creative otion control levels also but I hated those. The appear/disapear platform was near, but used so much it got old. Gold Lead glaxy was good, but just a rehash of honeyhive. Bosses in this game were very very cliched.
