New DS makes sense 100% however I find stupid to put a camera on a such gadget. I would trade my Iphone camera for 2gb more space anytime.

Well well, so all this rumors were true. So far I've seen a lot of excitement from people not owning the console, but also from those owning one. So far, Reggie already talk about that they are not in the Red Ocean, offering the best camera or music player, but they offer different experiences with them.
Does this makes more sense now? Was Malstrom right about the third Blue Ocean step?

No, Malstrom is still wrong about this. This is still clearly an attempt to take over the PSP and iPhone dominated parts of the market. Nintendo can claim it isn't their intention all the want, but it is a bold faced lie. Similar to how they claimed the DS wouldn't replace the GBA, and swore the Wii wasn't competing with the PS360 until it started spanking them in sales. This still strikes me as a retarded business move, but Nintendo has the money to spare and has a far better grasp of the market than I do.
well, you can't talk with the DS, one important aspect of the iPhone is that. DS is still a gaming system but with new features, and still they offer something different like music player is different from the iPhone. The iPhone is a multimedia device with gaming capabilities, but most people use it to communicate rather than playing.
Nintendo said they were not "competing" because they were offering different features than the other systems, but it still was a competition, but not a direct competition in offering the same things. That's what the Red Ocean is about, offering the same things with bigger and better specs. DSi camera is not a better camera, but a different camera. Wouldn't this be a Blue Ocean feature then?

How is offering the same thing your competitor is offering going to appeal to a different audience? Blue Ocean is about beating the competition by getting a whole new group of consumers interested in your product. You cannot get a new group of consumers interested in your product by offering them what already exists on a competing product. You can get people considering buying your competitors product to buy yours instead by offering the same features they have even if it is at a reduced quality. DSi offers the same features the competitor has at a lower quality. DSi is not blue ocean.
While I can't fathom them using the camera in any particularly new fashion that doesn't mean it isn't possible. The app store is what has me particularly worried that Nintendo is loosing some of it's focus, but once it again it will be in how these features are implemented and not the features themselves that determine if they are still using blue ocean tactics. I am worried that this should be called the iDS and not the DSi however.
@ Gnizmo
But which product offers the same Camera capabilities like the DS? I'm talking about manipulating your photos (like it was shown in some video)
The same goes for the music player.

No, that one little extra is not enough. This is not a blue ocean move. Not even close.
it is a blue ocean move...right now the PSP and DS are competing..in order to interest people who wouldn't buy a DS..or PSP..is by adding a camera, bigger screens etc?..
it makes sense to me..PSP has no cam
and the way this is going..it looks like the DS will have its own set of apps..not fighting Iphone either..since Iphone is a smart phone..not a handheld
sorry Gnizmo...
and KUDOS to you Soma..for posting this..(are you waiting to see Obata's version of Soma too?..like me..can't wait!!)
The PSP offers movies, storage, music, and games. DSi offers a camera, music, storage, and games. Yeah totally different. Seriously click the link in that post and see the comparison. If this is blue ocean, then the PS3, 360, and PSP were all blue ocean as well.
