Forums - General Discussion - Good DVD ripping software

So I'm going to start getting into exercising again and I like having things to watch on my iPod while exercising.  I'm not worried about converting things to something the iPod can read, I just don't know any good software to get something from my DVD's to my computer.

DVD Shrink.

It takes any DVD and rips it to a VIDEO_TS folder on your hard drive.

If you can get those on your iPod through computer magic, then you're all set!

Don't forget DVDdecrypter

Just found this:

I usually use DVD Shrink, it works great.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Mac: Visualhub
PC: don't know..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Hmm so I thought I knew what I was doing but forgot that I fail at this kind of stuff.

I used shrink to get the DVD to my computer and thought it would just give me something I could convert to something my iPod could read but I couldn't be more wrong.

What do I these VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders? Any idea how to get these in any of the normal formats?

Nope.  Crap.  Sorry.  I thought you knew.  Try that program Mistershine mentioned earlier.

DVDShrink is only useful to fit a dual-layer DVD onto a single-layer disc (as far as I recall, anyway). If you want to convert to MPEG-4 (XviD, etc.) with as little hassle as possible, you might try Auto Gordian Knot. Virtualdubmod will give you more freedom, but will require more research and know-how to use effectively.

Hates Nomura.

I found a guide that told me to use Videora after I got the DVD on disk and that seemed to work. I just hate Videora...
