Forums - Nintendo - What should I do? My Nintendo DS is dead!

I have always had a great experience with Nintendo handhelds, their durability and reliability are umcomparable. I bough my DS Lite around May and have been playing a lot since then. Yesterday I had some odd problem. The system turned itself off suddenlly. I turn on again and it turns off again after a while. Seems like everytime I press the B buton a little stronger it turns itself off. The problem is I can not play games that uses B or A. Stylus only games seens to run ok. My hands are very big and I am a litle rough with controllers, I can pres A, B, X, Y at once with my thumb. Even so I do not think I had played it so rough to break the DS. There is alittle crack near the A, but it is no big deal (I could post a photo but I do not know how to that).

The big problem is that I am not a US resident. There is no Nintendo support in my country (used to have). The warranty is still ok, but I would have to be in the US to trade it. I would like to ask with anyone had a similar problem. I am open to suggestions.

Buy a new one at wal-mart, switch out the new ds for the old one, and return it saying that it was defective.

Wait DonWii that is dishonest. Also there is no Walmart in my country. Even so there is no return policy for most stores. This 3rd world man, they do not give a rat ass for the consumers. I may have to wait until a friend goes to the US.

Well, you either be dishonest, or you buy a new one. Of course, you could wait....

Wait... you guys are kidding me right? Call Nintendo... they will tell you what you should do.  You can always mail the DS off to a friend in whatever country you bought your DS from and have them call Nintendo to get it dealt with.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

I live in the Uk and even though my DS was from the USA and out of warranty they traded my broken one for a new one for £25.
So try Nintendo in your country.

Pssh, another anti-Nintendo post...you obviously broke your DS on purpose to give Nintendo bad press!!1

Anyway, there must be a way to get your DS shipped to Nintendo, repaired, and brought back...do you have any American friends you could ship it to, and have them do the repair process, then ship it back to you? The problem sounds like something Nintendo would fix for no charge...so all you'd probably have to pay is shipping...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Take a deep breath and realize that you've been taken prisoner by it and are finally free.

Or yea, you can call Nintendo to see if you can get it replaced. But you know, your choice.

If the warranty is still Ok, you should take it to the store where you bought it, they probably tell you what to do to get the repair done.

Please feel free to ad me any time, just let me know.

Contact Nintendo Of America. The warranty should still be valid there and they can advise you about the best course of action. I should think they will repair it however I don't know whether the warranty is only for American citizens, you would do well to check what the manual says in regard to that.
