But again, a 7 is not bad... WTF are people expecting these days? You want every single game to be on a MGS4 level or what? :?

Despite mixed reviews, LucasArts today announced that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed sold an impressive 1.5 million copies in less than a week since launch.
Force Unleashed becomes fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time

Vader and his apprentice fight average reviews with big sales

The force is strong with this one -- at least at retail.

The 1.5 million worldwide feat makes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed the fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time, says LucasArts. Granted, there have never been as many console owners as there are today, but the accomplishment is impressive, nonetheless, and proves publishers don't need a critical hit to make a commercial impact.

"The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including video games," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "We're blown away by the response to the game."

Released on September 16, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed follows the events of Darth Vader's secret apprentice, a new character in the Star Wars universe that displaces Tie Fighters as easily as Luke Skywalker moves rocks.

GamePro critic Cameron Lewis praised the game's satisfying power-ups and beautiful graphics in his 3.5 star review while faulting the uneven combat and clunky controls.

a 7 may be ok but not for 1.5m sales. How much sales are developers expecting these days?

 I think it's fair.

A 7 is good.

When ("casual") people buy a game, they want it to be good. They'll probably enjoy it if it's a 7, perhaps as much as an 8, but if it's a 6 (ish), then it normally has some issues to be sorted out, and it isn't really enjoyable.

Other than that, I believe that looking at pure quality for how much a game deserves to sell is stupid.
