I'm fairly sure that the evidence points to a Wii win, but you can never tell. To put this in persepective, however, I think the 360 has a much better chance of beating the PS3 than the PS3 has of beating the Wii.

Both chances are close to zero, though.

The PS3 will be the top HD console when all is said and done.

If the PS3 doesn't make its miracle rise by the end of next year (if the price drops), the truth will really set in, as the sales will begin their decline (there's no spinning once that happens). If the 360 beats the PS3 this holiday season, it should wipe away most of what's left, I think...

As for how the gen will end up, I agree with Starcraft - 360 holding the lead until next gen, with PS3 overtaking soon after.

Well I honestly see it this way and I have ever since the beginning of PS3. The ps3 will have the most consoles sold over all in the end cause I honestly expect a 10 year plan. The ps2 came out in 2000 so it is already 8 years old and still going so if it can make it through year 9 "next year" then it will have a 10 year life cycle so what makes anyone think that the ps3 wont do the same thing.... Remember that sony never said that it will be 10 years from the launch of the ps3 till the ps4 comes out, just a 10 year plan. So my guess is there will be a ps4 coming out around the 7-8th year of the ps3.

There is no doubt in my mind that the PS3 will eventually beat the 360 "Xmas 09 has been my guess for a while" and will WELL exceed the 360 sells in the end. However the wii is a quite different matter. I still believe that the ps3 will out sell the Wii but not by much, 1 mill minumum and 10 mill at the most or so would be my guess. It will definantly be a battle the whole way and a very interesting one at that.

But this is my opinion and obviously some will agree and a lot wont.

So in 1 simple word.... YES

How sad to see they've mostly given up, I'll miss anticipating the new sales #'s to roll in.

This console war was the greatest I've ever seen, I enjoyed it more than watching most sports. The fight for 2nd place is still on, but it's just not as fun as 1st place.

Well 10 year plan does not mean it will sell lots for all 10 years.... look at it this way, the Wii has consistantly outsold the PS3 by 2:1 or more... as the Wii is a popular console, it means it will not immediately die off in it's 5th year, so at worst it will last 6 years.

10 years of half the sales of the Wii still doesn't reach 6 years of Wiis sales. (And to be honest I would be suprised if the Wii wasn't still selling 8 or 9 years from now, while the PS3 might still be supported, but won't be selling much by then.

Christmas 2009 also seems a little early for PS3 to surpass X360, my guess is still Christmas 2010.

meh..I hope some game boosts sales for PS3 (LBP?)
