Huh. Who would've thought that beggining anew in my real life would coincide with starting anew on vgchartz?
Any day now, the dollar will be worth less than 2 zloty......any day now.....and my life savings will be in total jepordy ;(.
| famousringo said: Why are Microsoft and Sony trying to kill this industry by selling out to the hardcore? As Rol has scientifantastically proven, they hardly buy any games! |
That's not totally true. Rol talked only about Wii-Hardcore-Gamers. PS3 and Xbox 360 Hardcore-Gamers are totally different. Like Rol proved in an earlier topic there are special individuals (like DmeisterJ), who don't buy a PS3 (because Sony looses money for every sold PS3), but buy every PS3-Game (Because Sony makes money with the Games.) This is the reason, why the attach-rate for the PS3 is so much higher than the Wii-attach-rate.

Come on Rol, you're acting crazy. Everyone knows hardcore gamers buy lots of games. Just so long as though games have someone with a gun on the cover. That's how they know it's hardcore. It's not the only games they buy of course, sometimes they buy games whose covers feature someone with a sword, or a knife. Even more tool like things implied as weapons usually do okay, like drills or chainsaws. The more casual core gamers will even loosen thier standards to the point where they'll buy games that have fast cars on the cover.
I mean why else would Grand Theft Auto sell so well?

Rockstar knows by putting a lot of different pictures of guys with guns on the cover, you'll sell like crazy to hardcore gamers. Actually looking at these two covers, they kinda of messed up with GTA IV's cover. They are only four guys with guns on the cover, while San Andreas had five. (Guy on the bike is holding a pistol.) That'll make it a lot harder for GTA IV to outsell San Andreas.
Not nearly as many Wii games have people with guns on the covers, so hardcore gamers are more gun shy (pun) about buying covers that feature people with guns. But it still works generally pretty well even on the Wii.

Even Nintendo knows this. Why else would they stick Star Fox holding a gun dead center in the cover of Smash Bros. If Capcom was smart they would of have given Zack and Ammy guns on the covers of their respective games. They should of at least given them swords. After all you do get swords in both Zack and Wiki and Okami. Poor fools.
you know, while this thread is total sarcasm Rol might be onto something. Core gamers often have both a HD system and a Wii and will often prefer to get a multiplatform game (IE: Madden) on the HD system thereby lowering Wii's attach rate.
@brainbox - You are definately onto something there! I can just imagine how many more copies of Endless Ocean would have sold if you could shoot those dolphins and spear some sharks. And if you get to shoot at Mii's playing Wii Music then a lot of people on this site will definately pick that up too, especially if it was all online and you could goto anyone else's Wii and randomly pillage their Wii Music bands.

that made me Laugh Out Loud... and i think i just figured out what "LOL" means
also, it is spelt "Australia" .. why do you insist on leaving out the "al" everytime? it's not that much faster
Guess Im at the balance point between the two? I own 11 wii games (tho I'll get more once I beat UC, RE4, Zelda TP and Metroid Prime 3)
@BrainBoxLtd - you made me lol with your analysis of the Smash Bros. cover! I agree with gamerace, a lot more of those titles would have sold had they included destructive violence. Another great thread started by RolStoppable.

Shhh, don't tell him. He actually thinks there's a country called Austria, it's all in his mind. But his psychiatrist said never to tell him he actually lives in Australia.
I only have a Wii -- and I have 70ish games.
Of course, I bought many of them used, so that does not count in the attach rate.
But I bought at least 15-20 of them new -- so I make up for one of the hard-core guys.
