anyway, has MS finished the Arcade price cuts in all regions now? every time I look it seems to having a cut in another region. (Why did they not cut it all at once? stock constraints?)

so if sony 299 in europe, MS, just drop the price of arcade again, no big deal, remember, it is PS3 in deep red. also comnined CPU&GPU targetted for 2009, here we come slim Xbox 360.

at $199, the Arcade is too, surely?

Microsoft really can't afford to reduce the 360 in price much longer and still remain remotely profitable. This will likely be the last price-drop that Microsoft can afford before significantly redesigning the system. Sony on the other hand has plenty of room at 400 to issue a price-drop and remain profitable.

360 is still way in the red too mate, and the price cuts aren't going to help bring it into the green for quite a while. Furthermore, your argument against the PS3's profitability isn't valid since its software sales make up for the losses on the hardware sales which the recent inclusion of the new 65nm RSX chips will help reduce. And in case you weren't aware, PS3 is just as likely to see a slim model released with the new 45nm Cell coming next year too.

there will be a huge boost in october & november with the price cut & the release of big games like Fable 2 & Gears of War 2 ... its will be a fabulous boost.

And yet, you seem to forgot that it has been stated (and shown) that the most sales are done in the first few days and that the sales then gradually drop to a level where they stabilize.  Europe is already the market where the xbox struggles for some unknown reason, and yet you think they will outblast their own increase in the first two days (best two days usually).

If the ps3 showed such an increase in the first few days, undoubtedly many of the posters would go "wow, only such a small increase, it is doomed to fail, the first few days are vital".
