One of the PSN games tomorrow will have a platinum trophy attached to it (Spare Parts is its name)?!

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/01/17/spare-parts-simon-pegg-robots-and-co-op/ (check the comments)

I often wonder what the trophy rules/requirements are for PSN games when it comes to the number of trophy points that can be included in a single game. It seems most PSN games that sell for $9.99 or less contain 21 points worth of trophies or less. Then there are a bunch of games that sell for $15-$20 that contain a full set of trophies plus a platinum.

Now there is this game which is only $9.99 and contains 13 trophies plus a platinum....

From my observations, a normal PSN game cannot have more than 21 points of trophies (I haven't seen any that have more). A PSN that is treated like a normal retail game, though, is given a platinum and I'm not exactly sure what the cutoff point is for retail games (somewhere around 82-83, I believe). DLC cutoff is around 14 points, I think.

If Spare Parts does indeed have a platinum, most of the trophies are going to be gold.

I guess my question is, what makes a PSN game equal to a normal retail game, and therefore is allowed to have 82-83 trophy points plus a platinum? I thought it was based on price, but with the price of this game being $10, it would seem that it's not.

I woudn't be surprised if the trophies on SpareParts get changed.

Hasn't it happened already once when a 10$ PSN game was supposed to release with a platinum and this was changed at the last second when Sony explained them the rule ?

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Yeah, I think that happened when they patched Age of Booty to include trophies.

I guess it's up to the developer whether or not they can flesh out enough trophies to support a platinum or not. As far as I know, there are at least 5 games that are $10 (Anarchy is $7.50 or so) that have a platinum; Spelunker HD, the two Alien Breed games, Anarchy: Rush Hour and I can't think of the last one right now.

Your mom hates Dead Space 2!

What do you guys think about this ad campaign?

Ingenious? Brutal? Awesome? Immature? Creative? Dumbing down the game?

Do love the last video there though... Your mom medium disapproves of Dead Space 2!

"It's gooey!"

Didn't those games release for a higher price originally?  I know Alien Breed just got a price reduction.

Speaking of, I need a boosting partner for Worms Armageddon online, anyone who looked at the trophy list knows how impractical the online stuff is legit.

I know Spelunker HD, the second Alien Breed and Anarchy were all released at their current prices. The first Alien Breed came out at $15, then was dropped in price.

Anyone else looking forward to Dead Space 2?

HELL YEAH I'm looking forward to it! And I'm glad Dead Space 2 doesn't have any online trophies! Mainly because:

A) I'm tired of having to grind to level 50 to get platinum in every game. Even though I usually end up really liking the multiplayer (as in the case of Bioshock 2 & Medal of Honor even though MoH was a camp fest). Read Dead needed more gameplay modes to earn XP back when I did it though.

And B) I got into the multiplayer beta for Dead Space 2 and while its a really cool concept to play as the aliens/monsters they were way too underpowered compared to the humans and it wasn't as fun to play as them. Hopefully this will be better balanced in the retail version.

Dead Space 2 single player is going to be EPIC though! The single player alone is worth the purchase to me.

Oh and I'm pretty sure I read Dead Space Extraction will have only split screen co-op.

Dead Space Extraction is an on-rails shooter, so I guess in offline co-op the screen should not be split, but both players should just be staring at the same screen shooting stuff. That's my assumption anyways.

I'm very regretfully delaying ME2 for GT5. :-/

Oh btw did my first 24 hour race over the long weekend:

Saturday: 6 hours in 2 sessions
Sunday: 8 hours in 2 sessions, park car for 6 hours
Monday: 3.5 hours, then park car for last half hour

It was an ordeal, but I'd be down to do it again, if only I can find the time.

Yeah I have it pre-ordered, hit me up for some online when it releases if you want.  Wondering if Extraction has online co-op too.

Will do.

I'm a bit confused about the inclusion of Dead Space Extraction. I've read that the full game is included for free on both the collector's edition and the limited edition of Dead Space 2 (the limited edition being just the regular retail copy of the game). I've also read that the limited edition of Dead Space 2 will just be for the first shipment of the game on the release, and then all shipments of Dead Space 2 after that will not include Extraction. There seems to be some conflicting information out there. Anyone know if the above is true? Or will all copies of Dead Space 2 include Extraction?

I ordered it too. VERY good news that it wont have any online trophy !!!!

Well, Basic version wont have Dead Space Extraction, Limited and Collector will have. Limited edition is the same price as regular, so, you'd better get this one. Also, Limited edition should be available while stock last (meaning it's jsut for the buzz, it will be available don't worry).

Also, some big store will give away coupons to download Dead Space Ignition (the PSN Game) for free, for those who preordered. I heard it was crap, so I dont care.
