To be more clear, you'll want to get Phoenix Wright, Elite Beat Agents, Hotel Dusk, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, The World Ends With You, New Super Mario Brothers, and Final Fantasy IV.
I suggest that order.
With those games, you'll have the time of your life. They're some of the best available on any console, ever.
If you like the first PW game, which you should absolutely love it if I know you, then you'll probably want to immediately pick up all of the sequels. Do it. Part 2 in particular, is even better than the original. You like story, you like character development, you like Vesperia, PW:AA is the best game out there for you on any console, with very few challengers(Metal Gear series, Odin Sphere, Disgaea, Hotel Dusk).
What's a game to avoid?
Final Fantasy III. Avoid it like plague, and never look upon it.
If you like puzzle games(I only mention this because its a popular handheld genre) then Layton is the game for you. You want Strategy, I suggest waiting, actually, for Disgaea: DS, which is supposedly pretty great on the DS, and out soon(one of the best PS2 games, period). Advance Wars is pretty good, but I was only moderately impressed with DoR, so hold out for Disgaea or go with FFTA2, as it's a pretty great, and under-rated game.
Until Fire Emblem hits the console(if it ever does) it'll still be waiting for that killer srpg app.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
