Probably tales of series in general. As long as the
speech isn't repetitive...
Tales of Legendia

I have a soft spot for first person/turn based/random battles so...Dragon Quest.
The Infinity Engine games (Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale) have the best battle system to ever grace an RPG, and you simply cannot tell me otherwise.
All of you people saying a bunch of "you and the enemies stand in a row and press X to enter canned attack animation" games must really hate gameplay.
"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

I love the battle system in Grandia
Final Fantasy VI and X's battle system were good too
and also like the simple battle system on most Camelot games like Shining Holy Ark to Shining force/Golden Sun games
Plus Panzer Dragoon Saga had a great battle system too
Turn based.
