Forums - Nintendo - Sonic Rush is Sega's NSMB

Remember Sonic? I do. He was so fast, so XTREME! so much fun. And then he discovered a third dimention. He was still fairly fast, still sorta XTREME! but he really lost out on the fun. But Sonic isn't done yet, Infact this gen has seen quite possibly the best sonic game ever made. Sonic Rush.

It really is Sonic's New Super Mario Brothers. It's the kind of game that completely captures the amazingness that was the original series, while at the same time offering up a fresh and new experience. Infact the two games stack up just like their Snes, Genesis counterparts. Sonic Rush really is the faster, harder version of New Mario. And the 2 and a half D boss battles are great too. Add in multiplayer levels for racing and you've got a game that deserves to be in every DS players library.

I beg of you to check it out. Even if you've never played a Sonic game before, then this is the perfect game to get started on.

well it is really a good game and I liked it, but I don't think it is any different from the Sonic Advance games (though I only played the first.) so this wasn't really new to me. Or are the advance games remakes?

I never had a GBA. I know there were sonic games for it, and they were new games. But Rush does things they obviously couldn't. The two screen aspect works wonderfully. It suprises me just how much they can put into each level vertically. And the stylus controlled Genisis style half pipe levels are great.

Also, based on my completely non-existant knowledge of the GBA's capanilities, I really doubt the GBA games could be nearly as fast as Rush gets on the DS.

I played Sonic Rush. It's a good Sonic game. Unfortunately it made me realize that I don't really like Sonic games. :p I like taking the time to explore levels and find everything, and I never felt like I could do that in Rush with all the emphasis on speed.

I still don't understand the pressure to go 3D. Yes, it worked pretty well for Mario and Zelda and Metroid. But some games are better left at 2.5D. Yoshi's Story was great, Mystical Ninja too.

I really do miss 2D games, even if it takes some balls to do them these days. Top-down (GTA, Micromachines), and simple isometric perspectives too, BTW. Even pinball is 3D these days.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

Oh how I'd like to see a top down Micromachines again! The one on the ds wasn't really what I wanted...

@KruzeS,
I kinda miss the old style GTA games too.. It would be very cool if they made a new old style version, maybe for the Wii, where you could use the pointer functionality to shoot while your driving. Just wishful thinking, but maybe WiiWare could make it possible

sonic can suk my cock. dumb kiddy sega an nintendo

A DS GTA game would be an instand purchase for me. It really was a great game. And the 3d versions are different enough that they really are two seperate game series.

Well I don't have Sonic Rush anymore... When I bought it, my girlfriend bought Big Brain Academy. And it turns out that she thinks that game is a pointless waste of time. So what does she end up doing? She returns it and borrows" my Sonic Rush, since used to have Sonic for GameGear. So I have no idea if I'll ever get it back. Oh well, at least my copy of Brothers in Arms DS has come in. I'll be picking that up tomorrow probably.
