I only intended the thing about the majority of Wii's games as a fact. The other two were opinions. Chicken Shoot got a 2.5 on Wii from gamespot, 27 from metacritic (sorry about that, I meant chicken shoot) and Medal of Honor: Vanguard for Wii got 5.5. I personally wouldn't play either of those, but apparently some people would. And besides, to pay MONEY for a game which was basically made in 1985 (Duck Hunt) seems a bit ridiculous to me. Then again, I never really liked MoH at all, after Rising Sun. Again, personal preference. And were all of those pictures supposed to mean something? Can you honestly tell me WarioWare: Smooth Moves is not a casual game? The large majority of Wii games fall into the category of 'casual'. The OP said he didn't like the good 'non-casual' games, so I personally think a different console is for him. |
My apologies for taking so long to respond (although thanks to TalonMan for the new feature, else I'd have missed this entirely). To take your response from the top:
You are correct that the majority of Wii games are crap. Anyone who tries to dispute this is a fool. What you fail to understand is that making that observation is one of the safest things you can say about ANY console. The majority of games, for any and all platforms, are crap. That's the nature of our hobby, my friend, and you're deluded if you think otherwise.
Although it seems to have escaped your attention that the games I posted were all published by Nintendo, and were meant to counter your (disjointed) opening sentence that if you're not into casual gaming, "Nintendo is not for you anymore." As a side note, the games I posted form the majority of Nintendo's offerings, which makes it rather hard for me to understand how they can be focusing on the "casuals" (the fact that there are no "casual" gamers is another big reason behind my confusion, but that's a discussion for another time...).
As for your use of two select, poorly-selling Wii games as a representative sample of the console's library...there's really not a whole lot I can say. Tell me, do you tell people that your hometown is a total dump because there are two neighborhoods that no one would ever want to visit? Because that's essentially what you're doing here.
P.S. I was referring to Medal of Honor Heroes 2. Vanguard does, indeed, blow. Oh, and if paying money for older games strikes you as ridiculous, do yourself a favor and don't talk to people who enjoy Virtual Console et. al.. or who buy ports like Chrono Trigger and the Metal Slug Anthology. I'm sure you'll find that you're nowhere near the majority on this one.
Your point about Wario Ware is one I can answer easily: the original Wario Ware wasn't considered "casual", nor were any of the other sequels. Why should this one be, save to let the snobcore make a point? Or are you like Jaos, i.e. a simpleton who thinks the term is something you use to demean things that don't fit with what you want to believe?
As to your final senteces, you're always entitled to your opinion, of course, and no skin off my back. But where is your proof that the majority of Wii games are "casual"? For that matter, please define for me the qualities that make a game "casual." I mean that last honestly: for some bizarre reason, no one's been able to give me a satisfactory definition of the term, most especially the ones that toss it around most frequently. Care to try and be the first to succeed where many have failed?
