You seem to forget how long Everquest was at the top. No MMO will be a threa to WoW until they decide to make WoW 2. And hopefully there will be no WoW 2 but just plain good old Warcraft 4. Maybe Starcraft MMORPG, boy will that be another kick in the nuts to all the other MMO developers.

There will probably never be a WoW2, there will most likely be and endless amount of expansions, or Diablo 3 and starcraft 2 will own it.

That's what I'm saying. They wn't make WoW2. They will just keep their dominnce with a Diablo or SC mmo.

I've played both WoW and War at a friends house and WoW was alright (though tediously slow after playing lots of Guild Wars) and War's battle system makes WoW look like Guild Wars. For the hour or so that I played whenever I got into a battle it is just spamming 11111111111111111111111111111111111 so that your character will actually attack. If you don't spams specific attacks he takes all day and all night in between normal attacks while the enemies attack 3x faster than you do. Unless that changes, and fast, I think War will bomb. I know they want to keep you subscribing but to slow down the pace of battle so slowly will drive people away. I used to give my neighbor a bad time about playing a walking simulator with WoW, now maybe I will have to give him a bad time about a crawling simulator with War.

I played Guild Wars a lot and I disagree with saying that War has a slow battle system. I agree that pressing an attack every time is a bit ridiculous but you get used to it quickly. And even in Guild Wars you better use an attack on most of your swings anyways, otherwise you are not doing that much damage. Later on you get a lot of nice skills so you will be spaming pretty much every skill on your bar. I had to do the same thing I did back with Guild Wars with making skills 5-8 Q,E,R,C so I could reach them quickly. This battle system reminds me a lot from Guild Wars where skills recharged quickly and you had to constantly use every skill in your possession.

I love this game, its the first "real" threat to WoW.

Just like Age of Conan was supposed to be? No MMORPG will ever be a threat to WoW, no other game will even get close to 10 million subscribers.

Yeah there will, and did you forget that WoW has been out for 4 years, and Warhammer has been out for 4 days ago?

People said that about age of conan before the game came out, the game was a flop. Ive been hearing good about

Warhammer, alot good accually.. Just because it doesn't have 10 mil subscribers does not mean it isnt a competition.

I think his point is that Warhammer is the latest in a very long line of WoW-killers. Guild Wars, DnD online, Vanguard, Conan, and probably a couple others I've forgotten. None of them put a dent in WoW's userbase, no matter how much people on the WoW boards cried about leaving the game for its latest competition. Some of them did carve out a little niche, but I always wonder if they actually managed to pay for the massive development costs.

How can they compete? WoW has had three years of polish, balance, and added content applied to it. The next big MMO is going to have to do more than just rip off the WoW formula to hit it big. It's going to have to deliver substantially different gameplay.

That was the same case with EQ, WoW just hit it exactly when SOE was vulnerable, in between their two games. That's why I was hypothetically talking about WoW2, unless hat comes out and someone times an amazing MMO between WoW and WoW2 then I doubt anyone will be stealing anything from WoW.

Doesn't matter how good Warhammer is...it's not going to take away the WoW fans, and it really isn't THAT much different. Sure it is if you're a hardcore MMO player and know all the little differences...but the core gameplay is very similar in the end for most players. More PvP perhaps, but basically the same.

And I'm sure they'll make a WoW2 when WoW dies down in a few years...graphics aren't everything but WoW's graphics will be very dated even to casual gamers in a few years...they'll want something new and shiny, in an update or new version...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

They are out of lore to exploit, I mean they could always go with World of Warcraft 2: The Void or something and just have a massive Spore like galaxy with Burning Legion demons all over, but I doubt they will pull it off. My prediction is a normal RTS Warcraft IV and a Starcraft or a Diablo MMORPG in several years. After all WoW was annouced before WC3 even came out so we might hear something about a Diablo MMO as we get closer to launch.

No we aren't. I actually added the game to the database a few days after release.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

So far I'm generally impressed by the game, and when comparing it to WoW I would say that the gameplay ideas are much better in Warhammer but WoW is a far better made game. The sad thing is that I'm far more interested to see what a company with a history of creating really well polished games (like Blizzard) could do with the ideas that are in Warhammer than I am with seeing where Mythic takes these ideas.

Doubt War will affect Wow significantly.

First you have to calm down with preorders numbers, everyone still remember Age of Conan release, 1 millions units sold and everything, fact is the game is kinda bombing.

Secondly War is coming out at a relatively bad time as Wotlk is coming out in less than 2 months and it will be very tough to compete with that for War.....

In all likelyhood Wow is going to pass the 13 million suscribers mark sometime in the next 12 months ( they were at 11.9 a few months ago).

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
