you realize that there are over 6 billion people in the world. I'm guessin about half are too poor to buy any console so thats roughly 3 billion potential buyers...having roughly 750k consoles sold each week would mean approximately .00025% of the worlds population going out to buy a console each week. thats really not alot.

Keep in mind these numbers are purely speculation and estimates.

7 days, or 168 hours and about 2.5 billion people in the world with a decent economy. I don't think it unreasonable to that 500.000 consoles get sold every week globally actually.

Not that many people considering the population size of Europe Japan and N.A. not even counting people in other countries around the world that buy videogames and systems.

Dont forget the people that have multiple consoles ... I mean u buy a Nintendo DS when u already have a Wii ... pretty common ...

video game industry actually prospers in done turns vs other entertainment industys the value of a game and system that can be constently reused vs say arcade gaming or movies gives it inherint value... also the economy is not as bad as it may seem, just as the gas situation is not... the media hype over last week drove gas up to 5 dollars a gallon, guess what shit didnt pan out, now gas is back down by almost a full 2 dollars... its simply amazing how much fear and panic lead to stupidity

Sure if you think of 500,000 people all pressed together in a park (like at a concert) it seems like a lot but then think about 500,000 people spread across New York City... doesn't all that many people anymore, then spread them across the United States, now those 500,000 people are starting to look lonely.
