Domination begins Sept. 20.... :o
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

haha no - I didn't mean it like that. It just seems to me a little premature to compare the two when one of the systems hasn't been (oficially) released worldwide.
That said I'm all for domination...or is that dominatrix...I can never remember.

Very Bold statement there. The DS didn't have great support its first few years and for a while there the best thrid party game was a castlevania game. The PSP actually had better support it took a hounding from games like Brain Training and Mario Kart DS and the ensuing explosive product base to get to that level. The PS3 and 360 have delayed goodness in there third party exclusives and every month that wears thinner and thinner. KZ2 is coming out within the year and FF 13 is coming out effectively ending the announced games from the first part of this gen.
By this time next year I expect more third party support for the Wii than the 360 or PS3. What the Wii will not have is the complete dominance the PS2 did in the third party field. |
I think your last statement is an oxymoron. Either the Wii will have more 3rd party support and dominate like the PS2 or it will not. I personally pick the latter...
Btw just because a game hasn't been announced doesn't mean its not being made. Its very unlikely that any game developer is going to announce a game during the rush to the holiday season. Most games are announced between Jan-June.
Tease.
I feel like I'm always saying this but:
PS2 and PS3 had staggered launches world wide.
Sony Console Availability
PS3: November 2006-March 2007
Others & Americas only
PS2: March 2000 to October 2000
Japan only
You have to look at the regions individually to get an accurate worldwide PS2 & PS3 comparison. Wii is something of an exception because it launched worldwide between November 15 2006 and December 15 2006 in the major markets.
Regionally:
Japan PS2 had a 4.4m lead at comparable points
Europe is the closest. But PS3 is still 15% of the PS2 pace.
Americas is the worst in raw numbers. Six million off the PS2 pace so far.

It's silly arguing over the "qaulity" of games since in the end, it's a matter of opinion. What helps Nintendo is that their games have a lot of originality and are often unique and not possible on other systems. And with the PS3, exclusivity does matter because if a consumer can get the same game on another system, they might buy that other system. So to ignore the point as if it doesn't matter is foolish.
The fact is, the PS3 doesn't have that many exclusives and not nearly as many great ones as the Wii or Xbox 360. The lower price of the Wii and even the 360 does help. PS3 will probably catch and pass the 360 sometime early next year but it will never catch the Wii regardless of how much it pisses off certain gamers on here.
I'll come up with something better eventually...

Agree for Japan and America although if you look at this year it seems the US situation is improving, the Japan one is getting worse.
The jury is still out for Others as if you align launch you have the PS2 having 2 holydays in Others vs the PS3 having only one so far.
If you look at individual years you see the PS3 had a worse start than the PS2 there but is doing much better in its second year...( 2008 LTD PS3 sales in others beat ANY PS2 year in Others up to this point...even the mighty 2003 when the PS2 sold 7.7 million units in Others). Question is will the PS3 have enough stamina during the holydays to continue at the same rythm there...

If I were an English teacher, I would show that sentence to my class as an example of terrible writing. I can't even understand what it is you're trying to communicate there. I think your random word generator is broken.
Here, let me put this in terms you'll understand:
no sell wii talk not make bad idea angry go
The Wii doesn't have the effective backing of the DVD industry. It will not outsell the PS2 without a huge media tsunami like DVD as a part of what it is. Gaming would have to *really* take off in order for the Wii to continue selling as it is.
Wish I had more money to buy some more terrible metacritic rated Wii games.
Wii Sports under 80% on MetaCritic... I sure hated that game yeah, haven't played over 100 hours of it.
Endless Ocean? also under 70%, yeah that was horrid too.
Metacritic also told me to hate Excite Truck, SSX Blur and Batallion Wars 2 it seems.
