Forums - Gaming - XBOX 360: The Gaming Console for 15 year old kids

That brings me back, at 15 I was playing some Warcraft 3 and Unreal Tournament along with Melee and Metroid Prime. Good times (was that even out?).

Weird. You think they'd try and push PS3s.

I know everytime I go to a gamestop to buy or preorder something they ask me if I want to preorder Little Big Planet and/or buy a PS3 when I mention I don't have one yet.

Haha wonderful. It seems 360 is the choice for newly found pubescent teenagers with their hands in their pants 24 hours a day. Remind me not to buy used 360 controllers.

I just bought a used controller... oh God I have to wash my hand!

The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

The biggest flaw in the methodology of this study is only calling specialty gaming retail outlets, the sort that cater specifically to the core gaming audience. I'd love to see what answers the same study would produce at more mainstream retailers like Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, and so on. You know, the kind of places where "normal people" are more likely to shop.

I think it's really telling that Kotaku, a website that exists only to serve core gamers, believes that using three retailers called "Gamestop", "Gamecrazy", and "Play N Trade" is an accurate reflection of the overall market.

Sounds like good news for MS anyways. Get the younger audience they are the ones that will spend their pants cash, not to mention build a future for the next system.

It's just that simple.

You did a lot of work, and I'm really glad you did. I have to agree with some of the people that said the Wii wasn't recommended based on it's availability. I literally still have never seen a Wii on a store shelf.

@kasz actually majority of the game employees seem like xbox fans to me. Whenever I go into a gamecrazy or gamestop in San Jose they're always talking about 360 titles. Not to mention a survey showed that the average 360 owner is around 20-30, that fits the age of the average game employee.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. In other words do not presume that a sales person at one of these retailers is being insincere. The reality is while there are lazy people in this world looking to get by with the minimum effort, and do what is only in their interest. The majority of people try to do their job as well as they can. That usually means they are probably going to do their best to steer you in the right direction.

I can definitely see the logic in the selections. Fifteen years old is a time of youthful rebellion. Not likely to want to play games with the family. Not likely to be enamored with the idea of dancing around in front of a television where others can see. Highly motivated towards socializing with their friends, and spending hours in conversation. Very much into violence, sex, and crude humor.

I actually do not question the recommendation of the 360. Were their a console custom built for the needs of a fifteen year old boy this would be that console. What I question is why recommend either a 360 or a Wii. When the logical conclusion should be the 360 or the PS3. The two more similar consoles. Unless the experience of the employee was that the price was too great a detractor. Which makes some sense if the answer to the suggestion is almost universally the console costs that much.

xbox360 Cons:

Hardware reliability
Not as powerful as the PS3

who told u that ??
