It got a 9.6 on Dreamcast...

Yeah, That game was madness, but didn't have great controls (probably because it's a first time)

For IGN the biggest factor in the end of the score is gameplay.

well gameplay is the most important aspect in gaming it should hold the most weight in determining a final score.but the game was awesome on the dreamcast.a 7.5 isnt bad either.

control to a rhythm is critical, because the precision is a must to build up combos.

It's no different than a fighting game that has lags in controls. It just won't do.

I'm actually surprised it scored a 7.5. If I were to review GHWT and one of the buttons won't register at times, I'd give it no more than 2.

right, but if the controls are great and fluid but,the game still isnt fun,the gameplay is going to suffer.

not a bad score...

it got a 6.5 for gameplay. That's not good.

But IGN doesn't average scores. That why it says NOT AN AVERAGE at the end of every review

That means that the score is whatever they want it to be rather than the logical conclusion of the review.\

Anyway, IGN isn't much better than Gamespot for reviews(it is though).

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

It also means they can give an score indicative of how good they think the game is, without being influenced by the technical ratings (for example, it would be unfair to lower the score of Football Manager because it's a text based simulator and has bad graphics and sound, everyone knows they're some of the most addicting games ever).

In the end, you can choose to see the glass half full or half empty
