Forums - Sony - So did MGS4 fail to meet expectations?

^ uh.... where can you get a MGS4 bundled ps3?

Around the Network

Didn't Konami already put out a statement that they passed 4 million some time ago?
In case you guys have not noticed, VGChartz has not been keeping track of the MGS4 being sold in the bundles. At least not all of them. MGS4 is in the 4.75 range around now, as the MGS4 Bundle continues to sell out every where. I know this cuz I work at Gamestop LOLs.

The average sales of the first three MGS titles was 5 million, not including spin-offs and Xbox versions.

MGS4 is tracking to come in to around 4 million lifetime according to VGChartz, unless it sees ungodly sales during the holiday period, or bundling (of which it has already had a great deal).  Given this title had an enormous budget compared to previous titles (even when taking account of the progression to the next generation), did MGS4 fail to meet its sales expectations?

Note:  Due to Sony moneyhatting, and solid sales of the game, I am positive Konami made a reasonable amount of profit on the game.

I'll do what you always do when people say MS moneyhats (which they are actually known for)

Got proof?

About as much proof as you have that ToV, Star Ocean, Ace Combat and Eternal Sonata were moneyhatted.

Sometimes in life, we employ common sense.

Let's see... common sense says that MS will be the same ol' company with the same ol' dirty tactics. Previous behavior is reflected on a company when these situations come up. So.... why wouldn't people think MS paid for those titles?

Please starcraft you haven't used one ounce of common sense in this thread.

omg dude honestly...he's saying that there really is no proof that ms moneyhatted for those games or that sony moneyhatted for mgs4.  Its just common sense that both companies did.

This thread is a fail and you are trolling. I am surprised why you don't get banned for this.

Common cents on the internet?! Unheard of!

Sony does not moneyhat for games. That is a tactic exclusive to MS. If Sony had moneyhatted for anything that they have, don't you think the media would be ALL over them for it? The slightest screw up and the media jumps on Sony, the only way to beat it is to be true to what they say(for the most part). MS has admitted to these tactics on occasion. In the interview with a MS representative on the topic of FFXIII, the guy was completely evasive to the idea. He said something like...

"It is easy to say that we have payed for this game, yet I think the more obvious explanation is that we have the wider userbase..."

SEE! He never actually says they did not, which is what a person would say if he honestly could when being accused of something like that. Then he would go into why it went MP. MS is full of fail if you ask me. The only thing keeping them alive this gen is their wallet!

well i'd say based on a 15 million userbase, its sold very well. I think it would be great if it reaches 5 million sold.

This thread is obviously meant to Troll on MGS4 and the PS3, look who started it! Lock it up!

umm no offense people..but you guys are losers...

who cares how much the game has sold.

i care about how the game was, and the game is amazing and better then any wii or 360 game thus far.

i only care that konami and kojima make a profit from this game (which they did i bet you) and that i know i supported them, giving my money to them joyfully.
