nintendo is awesome at addressing problems...

you may found out that it may not even be your fault..
your lens may just be dirty.. and needs cleaning..

i heard sometime ago that nintendo was fixing that sort of problem sometime around the launch of SSBB

Wii's...die? Sorry to hear about that dude electronics can be a bitch like that sometimes. I treat my consoles like baby's because all of them are now outside of the warranty period and still I managed to RROD in early April.

Ouch, I feel for you. My ps3 died yesterday morning. It can't get past standby mode. My warranty expired on July 27 so I had to pay $150 for repairs!

You have bad warranties in the US.
Anyway, it's a shit when that happens. I haven't had a console to die, but the PSX me and my brothers had, did the disc read error, but it was nothing that getting a hint from Kamasutra hadn't fixed.

grinding actually means that there is something wrong with the arm on the motor.
usually this is because you played it too much and the (in your case) underapplied grease simply wore out.

Last night I finished up playing some Umbrella Chronicles (great game by the way). When I went back to the Wii Menu, it made a funny grinding sound...
