Forums - Nintendo - My Wii died!

Once my PC died, I was the biggest wreck until I got a new one some time later. Firts came the itching and the red eyes. Then I started to have horrible cravings and headaches without it. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I couldn't think. It was sad. You get full sympathy from me.

Did you buy it with a credit card? most credit card companies will double any manufacturer warranty on electronics.

Wait...seriously? They do this automatically for all members? Why didn't anyone tell me...?

If it is a benefit of your card, then yes it is automatic and you don't have to do anything at all. Most people aren't aware of it, as it is usually hidden in the fine print somewhere.

It was a benefit (and I think it still is, but they did change some stuff like $ back so I'm not sure) for my Citicard Mastercard.

It works something like this. You get the product fixed/replaced by the manufacturer and then send the original and repair receipt with warantee information to the credit card company and they refund the money spent on repair/replacement.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

@nordlead - Great thinking! I don't remember if it was charged or not but likely it was. I'm sure my MC would offer that too. Here's hoping!

@Rol - Divorced. My ex doesn't care - she has her own to gloat over me now. My gf doesn't know yet.

@theprof00 - That was funny. I LOLed. Thanks.

@Everyone - thanks for the thoughts. Called Nintendo, past warrenty, have to take (or ship) it in and pay $84.75 for repair. First console to ever die (my son had N64, PS2, GC previously)

Im genuinely shocked that Nintendo products are breaking. Since i skipped the GC era not sure about the last 3 - 5 yrs, but they have always been the best quality machines and never busted ever. Think of the Gameboy, tough son of a bitch, the Snes was pretty tough too.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

i literally pulled my nes off the tv with my controller to plunge 5 feet to the ground twice, never breaking.

Nintendo has been known to fix out of warranty units without hassle. Their customer service is very good.
