Forums - Sales - Possible situation this Christmas

@blazin... Price cuts are not generally relative to other consoles price, most people will already know if they want PS3 or 360 and will have their own value in mind for how much is worth paying... true some that are on the fence will use the difference in price as a factor, but this will always favour the 360 until the prices cross paths..... so a price-cut is a price-cut.

However. I agree, the PS3 will almost certainly outsell X360 this Christmas (worldwide) but that doesn't mean the 360 cut had no-effect.

It is HIGHLY possible. Many parents will pick up something $50 cheaper for Johnnie if his oh so important gotta have it now Wii is out of stock. This puts NTDOY in a high pitched manu. battle with MSFT.

THis is very possable

Ah, but don't forget two key factors working against the 360: used consoles and returned items. Used consoles tend to be priced lower than new units, meaning they're more likely to get sold than a new unit for a price-conscious consumer who can't find the item they were after. The latter will register as sales on the records, but in practical terms will not be in use until sold as used at a later date.

While you could argue that both can work against the Wii, the fact that finding a used Wii is so rare while finding a used 360 is common means that the 360 is going to take the brunt of the used sales losses.

well yeah, if they can't find a wii they'll have to find another system, since 360 is close to the wii's price, they'll most likely buy that... so I say it's possible.

No doubt this is part of Microsoft's strategy, but there really is no way you can supliment a Wii with a 360 or PS3... the experience is different... but you never know maybe some Wii owners will want to jump into the HD gaming and we could see some of them purchase a 360

Yeah I think it's very possible. When someone has decided to buy something like this for a loved one, they have pretty much made up their mind. When it comes to pass that they can't get one, the next logical step will be "Well at least I'll get him some kind of GAME? How much different can they be" (--*shudder.

The people wants a Wii with Wii-Sports. They know exactly what they want. You all seem to think that most people are dumb as ass.
