Forums - Nintendo - Wii and DS games having the worst storylines?

I'd answer your question, but despite reading several of your posts I'm still not at all sure what you mean by "narrative", so I really can't answer. Could you give me some examples of games you think have great storylines (excluding the MGS series, which is a given for you)?

If you mean what (I think) most people do with that term, then okr is giving you a big hint, though.

Really depends ya know. I mean per se you get story driven games like Gears of War were really its just bad to begin with ya know. Ya just don't care about the story and wish they had focused more on other things.

I mean I would like some more story driven games on the Wii... but as I always say if its a choice between a fantastic gameplay and a fantastic story I'm going to go with gameplay. Would love to have both... but it's hard to name a bunch of games that have had both.

I can't believe that anyone could even consider calling the Resident Evil Storyline a good or even complex one.

But on topic, the Wii actually has some games with ok and nice storylines. Not like there would be a lot of outstanding storylines on any current gen console platform at the moment.

You obviously haven't watched many movies or read any books if you consider most of those games to have great or even passable storylines...

can you name some games, instead of just saying all games???

Most people on this site always ignore the fact that the Wii (and especially the DS) got and will get plenty of point & click adventures. This narrative genre has found a 2nd home on Nintendo systems (at least this gen).

This is a great point, but so far there hasn't been any adventure game with a good story on Wii. But no doubt they will come, Sam & Max being one of the first.

I could say the same thing to you, for the fact that you consider the MGS series to have great stories.

Lots of movies these days have pretty crappy stories.

Of course books have better stories overall.  They are a storytelling medium while video games for the most part aren't.

What's wrong with some of those video game storylines?

Okay then, the topic title should be 'PS3, 360, PSP, N-Gage, Computer, GBA, Wii and DS games having the worst storylines?'

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

I don't like over the top story lines in videogames, most if not all the time it gets confusing and at the end i feel lost.

Complex storylines (if that is what you are refering to) aren't my cup of tea.

[spoiler]Funny that my favorite Nintendo studio is Intelligent Systems, which are focused on storytelling for most of their games...[spoiler\]

MGS series does have a great story. The only ones who disagree are a few select ones who try to compare it to the storylines in novels whereas most base the quality of storylines in games based their own merits.
