Sincce FEAR is by far one of my favorit games of all time right now there has been a question that has been bugging me and that I haven't been able to find the answer to. Are they developing it for the PC and porting it to the consoles, or are they going to consolify the game? I'd hate to see FEAR take the path of Unreal Tournament and suck because of consoles versions, but considering the very first demo was on a console, and I think all others too, it might.

Also since it was brought up might as well dscuss the game. Anyone else a little surprised they are haivng a new protagonist in PO than the pointman? I kind of got very attached to him, and unless they can pull some serious stuff out of their pens I doubt they will be able to make a character as good as the pointman. I really enjoyed some parts of the FEAR story and the bits that were revealed in the last stages of the game were by far the best.

sorry bud, apperently its console + pc at the same time. The vids and demos shown at game conferences were off the xbox 360 actually.

FEAR is one of my favourite games as well and luckily I trust Monolith enough to deliver a great experience no matter what system it is developed for. I don't see how they could screw it up by doing it for consoles at the same time. Unlike Unreal, Fear isn't a multiplayer only experience therefore it should be fine no matter what it is developed for.

While true, they can make mechanics and other stuff that help out our mouse challenged bretheren that are acually a detriment to the people playing it with a mouse. Like guns for example, granted we won't have a previous point of reference for guns like we did in UT, but maybe they had to cut corners and make some guns work differently because of consoles. In UT the biggest hit were the fact that so many weapons got changed either entirely or something small that ruined the feel to them from previous ones. I've just seen a good amount of console mechanics on the PC and not a single one of them was actually good or better than the established mechanics.

Another thing that is bothering me is the health regeneration system. While I see their point that it is easier to make encounters when you know a person will have 100 life at the start and won't have 10 kits as well, on the other is that I can just run back a few rooms and poof, I have 100 again. I also hate multiplayer games with this mechanic but thank god this isn't one.

Oh man...Im the bad news bringer today. Project origin will have the health regeneration system of Halo, Gears and other such games. I personally like that more for multiplayer as the action stays intense since you know that a player will have a full health if you lose sight of him or let him get away. For single player I'm indiferent...I liked the FEAR health pack system.

Huh, I always found it annoying that if I get a particularly good string of hits from a long ways away the guy can just go around the corner and it will be as if my aim was just wasted. The system is really good for singleplayer, but the health pack system was my favorite healing system in single player shooters.

^^ I loved that system too, but i don't mind the health recharging one either in games like Halo. I think it has to do with newer players that started playing FPS games with Halo etc. They can't stand the old school health packs from what I've noticed.

Older players that played Doom, Quake and other classic FPS games don't usually mind either systems...

It really depends on the game with me, if the players move at the rate of a 90-year-old wit parkinson's like Halo I'd prefer the healthpack, but if it's UT or Quake speed or somewhere there then it really doesn't matter, It won't take me that long to get around the corner to shoot him to hell. It's just not for every type of game that's online.
