Forums - Microsoft - It's over for the 360 if......

If Sony cared about it's customers it would:

- Buy exclusivity in no matter the cost to bring games to it's customers

- It wouldn't release one of (if not) the most expensive console of all time

- You would have had dual shock built in

- Extend warranty for free beyond 1 year (lifetime warranty perhaps)

- Charge $60 USD for a game, $110 AUD here.

- Backwards Compatibility would be available FOR ALL CONSOLES AND IT WOULD BE FULL COMPATIBILITY

I'm not quite sure what you mean by buying exclusivity... Do you mean they should pay for games to remain exclusive to the PS3? Or do you mean they should pay for other consoles' exclusive games to be released on the PS3 as well? If the first, then I wouldn't consider it caring. Why? Because games released on other systems aren't a loss for a PS3 owner.

The price doesn't come out of nowhere. There is a reason to why it's expensive. You can't have it all and I think I might actually prefer quality over price.

It was about legal issues, not Sony's will. DS3 is now packaged with PS3s so this shouldn't matter too much. They had a good reason.

For what comes to the warranty... Well, it could be longer but in general PS3s last pretty well so there's not too much need. Lifetime warranty on a product like this is mostly a joke.

$60 isn't any more than any other console's (well, I don't actually know about Wii). Besides, even PC games are $50. Oh, and how is the price Sony's fault? The only way to stop making money on games is to start making money on consoles which would lead to more expensive consoles. Well, unless you can come up with some other solution which would most probably be bad for customers.

BC would be nice. Actually I miss it. I do have the 60GB model with limited BC but full BC would still be good. It's no good to have no SKUs with BC at all.

Not to say Sony is good... But they certainly do care more about the customers. They might not care because of caring itself but because of it is good PR but they still care (more than MS). Oh, and monopoly is always bad in case you were wondering what my opinion was about that.

From 100k to 170k just because of a price cut in one region (Or did they have another in Japan, too? Anyway, Japan won't matter.)? I really doubt it. Right now NA is at some 50k. They would need 70k more to reach 170k worldwide. That's 100+% more. Even if NA was at some 80k, they would still need some 40k which would still be some 50% more. I guess MS has a chance but judging by numbers, it seems very unlikely.

Its been established that people on the whole are very stupid.

If Sony wins this one out then this will just be further evidence of this..

Delivery less
Higher price
Less games
More delays
More bullshit

People still lap it up in the EU...Why?

Brand, image etc.....

Which means what exactly? Nothing.

See people are stupid.

Price cut....more games....people just don't want it, surprising really considering the current financial climate.

I blame the uneducated

Not surprising at all. Europeans are in better financial conditions than Americans. Also, the 360's better library will be null by 2010. Look at what Sony has announced, at the rising PS3 sales and change in attitude toward PS3. It's bound to even the odds.

Also, Europeans see one certain thing: the PS3 offers more for its price.

So MS had a better library of games for 4 years interesting.  I would say that the PS3 libray will be getting much better by 2010 I would disagree it will be better than  MS

The 360 will keep the library advantadge until the end. XBLA moves at an amazing speed compared to PSN and as far as retail goes the larger market on the 360 is more attractive. By the time the ps3 overtakes the 360, if it happens, it'll be too late.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

The PS3 is getting the best version of the one game that will nullify any software advantage the the 360 has over the PS3 and that is Final Fantasy XIII.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

It's too bad that Microsoft isn't in this to just make money, but to stop Sony from taking over the living room, which IMO they are doing a pretty good job.

I honestly think that Microsoft is willing to lose more money than that, especially if you start looking at the operating income of their other departments that depend on Windows.

And that's sad considering Sony and Nintendo care about their customers while M$ is only concerned with beating Sony lol, which explains their hysterical 33% failure rate. They should focus on keeping the consumer happy rather than just trying to go after Sony which in turn they could still lose at. Sure they've put a dent in Sony's market but I'd rather have Sony and Nintendo make THEIR OWN products unlike M$ who just throws money at everyone.

Boah this is BS. MS does everything the customers want them to do. Talking about games they really work hard to get former PS-exclusives or related games on their console.

  • GTA
  • Devil May Cry
  • Final Fantasy
  • Don't let me start with JRPGs or XBox Live Arcade

MS does a very good job to satisfy their customers. That is why they are getting a decent marketshare.

Copy PS2 success and library much? that's what it looks like to me. And that's also why lots of PS2 owners moved to 360.

Which would mean that Microsoft satified them as customers?

That's undeniable, yup... but M$'s final objective is monopoly, as usual. That's why I want them out.

 Hahahaha Love that selfown.

  1. one guy: MS doesn't satisfy their cutsomers
  2. other guy (me): Well they are, check evidence
  3. Xen: Yeah just copying a popular console and give customers what they want.... Thats cheap
  4. other guy: So they actual satisfy their customers...
  5. Xen: Yes.... uhhh... ohhh.... BUT THEY WANT A MONOPLOY, MS IS DEVIL !!!111

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

They never said they would be exactly the same. The last article I read on the subject said they trying to figure out how to compress the audio and cut scenes so that they could get them onto dvds. And dvd cutscenes and audio just don't match hd Blu-Ray video and audio.

Wow, this price cut has certainly brought out the doom-sayers!

The price cut will give the 360 a sizeable boost this Christmas, and thats it. Nothing better, nothing worse. End of!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

You have not seen any "uhh, ohh" from me so don't add it. See M$ and windows. That's what it'll be if they won't have strong competitors.

"If they can't, in my opinion they should give up on the whole Games Buisness because they are at $6 Billion loss and arn't making significant ground to warrent themselves a new console. I think they should stick to what they do best, software."

That's the only part that I can't agree with the topic creator on. If Microsoft can't make up their huge losses in the gaming industry with the 360 (Which is looking likely to increase those losses rather than decrease, atm) then Microsoft isn't just going to give up and quit. What is much more likely to happen is that Microsoft will surrender to Sony the HD market and take the Wii route by selling a technically inferior system at an enormous profit.

If they cannot stay above 150 for 3 months with this price drop, IMO it's an amazingly FAIL of EPIC proportions!!!
