I'm not quite sure what you mean by buying exclusivity... Do you mean they should pay for games to remain exclusive to the PS3? Or do you mean they should pay for other consoles' exclusive games to be released on the PS3 as well? If the first, then I wouldn't consider it caring. Why? Because games released on other systems aren't a loss for a PS3 owner.
The price doesn't come out of nowhere. There is a reason to why it's expensive. You can't have it all and I think I might actually prefer quality over price.
It was about legal issues, not Sony's will. DS3 is now packaged with PS3s so this shouldn't matter too much. They had a good reason.
For what comes to the warranty... Well, it could be longer but in general PS3s last pretty well so there's not too much need. Lifetime warranty on a product like this is mostly a joke.
$60 isn't any more than any other console's (well, I don't actually know about Wii). Besides, even PC games are $50. Oh, and how is the price Sony's fault? The only way to stop making money on games is to start making money on consoles which would lead to more expensive consoles. Well, unless you can come up with some other solution which would most probably be bad for customers.
BC would be nice. Actually I miss it. I do have the 60GB model with limited BC but full BC would still be good. It's no good to have no SKUs with BC at all.
Not to say Sony is good... But they certainly do care more about the customers. They might not care because of caring itself but because of it is good PR but they still care (more than MS). Oh, and monopoly is always bad in case you were wondering what my opinion was about that.
From 100k to 170k just because of a price cut in one region (Or did they have another in Japan, too? Anyway, Japan won't matter.)? I really doubt it. Right now NA is at some 50k. They would need 70k more to reach 170k worldwide. That's 100+% more. Even if NA was at some 80k, they would still need some 40k which would still be some 50% more. I guess MS has a chance but judging by numbers, it seems very unlikely.
