Honestly, I could totally see MS doing this. For one reason and only one reason: Sony PS3; that will be the sole purpose. (I know your all saying, no duh, dumb ***t).

Not to make money, not to make current gamers happy. Nope, simply to try and out sell the PS3 on all fronts, by attracting new customers of all kinds.

Will Sony do anything? Nope, they will just keep on trucking and keep doing what they always do. Take it in the a**.

With the PS3 being my number 1 console of choice, I have to say if MS does do this, Sony better have something or their just shafting themselves.



  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

Assassins Creed 2 is a timed exclusive. Which means its version on the PS3 will have added content (ala Sony's new policy). Ubisoft said when they released the first one that they were already working on both versions of the sequel.

Anyways, OT: I kind of seriously doubt this is true, but if it is, maybe it will finally kick start the 360 out of its slump. Maybe Squill can be right on that tag of his. :)



I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

Evidence on AC2 being timed?  First I've heard of that and it seems funny given how well it sold on PS3 at the time.

So a bunch of sites picked up on a juicy rumour, whoopdy-doo. You sound like your reputation is on the line if VGChartz doesn't come through on a rumor posted from a member who heard it from another forum.

If anything, I'd say the sites are picking this up because they would want Microsoft to do something so bold and so daring. Hell, I'd love to see just half of this stuff come true. Consumers win, period.

I was just saying, since ioi takes the site's credibility seriously, this couldn't help that.  Also, since this is the internet, doubt on the internet is the only kind of doubt there is. :/

Nothing planned, they say. Perhaps G4 is blissfully unaware of Microsoft's plans to hijack its broadcast, as Weird Al Yankovic was notorious for doing to MTV in the mid 1980s. Damn you, Weird Al! If you do this one more time even with the aid of Microsoft, there will be hell to pay, free games or not!

 

did anyone else find it interesting they used the specific date like that?  not a "we do not have anything of the sort planned"  but a "we dont have anything on the 25th"

I very doubt this rumor but if it's really true it would even surpass the FFXIII 360 announcement by far !

September 25th would be a very logical day for them, as it would be the one-year anniversary of Halo 3.

The bottom line is, the rumor gives a specific date for which the suppossed relaunch "special" was suppose to occur. G4 is calling it BS. If that part of the rumor is false then I see virtually zero reason to assume that any other part of the rumor (much less the rest of the rumor entirely) should be considered possibly coming true, especially considering how outlandish most of the rumor is in the first place.
