Forums - Sony - Kingdom Hearts the game that fools you into thinking that it's amazing

there is more in the story that meets the eye.
a game with great graphic and sound track (YOKO SHIMURA (L))
fun gameplay is nothing short is greatness, it got at least twist that anyone wasn't expecting to see in such a game.
the theme of the game is friendship, how they struggled to find their friends if you can come up with such conclusion seriously you should be playing this game.
as for the battle system is just a fast paced zelda.

hell people whine of the caracter design and they still play FPS with all but space marines.

I hope you lose a hand or something, so you can never play games again.

People who don't like KH aren't whorty to touch a controller.

Kingdom Hearts is like the best game ever.

And since when has a character the obligation to change during a game, I don't think Kratos, Master Chief, Drake, Daxter, Clank, etc. changed

Ugh... I hate to be the one saying this, because I absolutely HATE Kratos, but you are wrong, he did change during his game(s). Haven't played GoW2 yet so can't speak for that, but he did change somewhat in his first game. Even though his personality and all was pretty stupid from the get-go.

Can't speak for any of the other characters though, haven't played their games.

EDIT: Also, to actually contribute to the thread. I personally liked both Kingdom Hearts-games, but trust me OP, if you were this disappointed with KH, you're not going to like KH2. You shouldn't waste your time, because it's pretty much the same thing, only refined. Also, I think you'll find that the story tries to take itself too seriously in the second one.

You\'re entitled to your opinion but I love the KH games. They\'re two of my favs from the PS2.

i said the same thing a few days ago. kindogm hearts is overrated.

Square has been downhill since the Spirits Within.

Kingdom Hearts is Overrated. Final Fantasy needs to just die. Infinite Undiscovery is perhaps one of the most embarassing things to come out this generation. And even when they did make good games most of them that weren't final fantasy were forgetable casualties of mediocrity.

Square-Enix has talent, but they're not the same company that made these kind of games work in the past. They need to realize they can't keep following in the footsteps of something they no longer are.

no, wii music takes the price of the most embarassing this all generation together seriously.

Note: This is all opinion and I hope those who reply take that into consideration before they surely flame me to hell. Also this is in the Sony forum because I'm talking about the first game of the series.

*probable spoilers*

I personally can't understand the praise that this game gets. I think that it's one of the most overrated games ever made. I bought it a few months ago after a couple of my friends talked it up to me about how amazing it was. Needless to say, I hated it. The only thing that kept me playing (I got up to the Hallow Bastion) was the inclusion of Disney. Nostagia is all this game has going for it. The battle system is a mashfest with small breaks for magic or healing before continuing the mashfest, and the characters are unbelievably shallow, and I can't stop thinking that if this game has the "Disney" stripped from it, it would be rated as a mediocre ARPG with a few Final Fantasy cameos, and a terrible story.

But hey, I thought Blue Dragon and Final Fantasy XII were amazing, so maybe I don't know a good game when I see one!!

Blue Dragon? Fail! Yes, you don't know a good RPG when you see one. It is ok if you don't like Kingdom Hearts but to call it a mash fest simply means you are not fighting the right things. The combat calls for so much more. So what that one button for attack, is that not most RPGs? I mean how is that bad that attacks are done with one button? Magic is also CRUCIAL in that game, especially the with the regular/Hidden Bosses. You also have an assortment of other moves like Glide and Dodge Roll, which are required to beat certain bosses/heartless so they also keep it from being a button masher. The story is light hearted, you have to get in the mind set of a emo preteen to understand it. It is actually pretty good when you think of it that way.

Yes, the game fools you. The 86.5 average on Gamerankings means nothing.

I commend you for your wit. It totally overshadows the fact that I adressed this in my original post.

Oh, I get it now!  It's been a ruse all this time!  People play Kingdom Hearts and THINK that they love it, THINK that they came away with an amazing story, THINK that there were interesting characters, THINK that the combat was fast and fun, but in reality they're completely wrong!

Thanks for the englightenment!

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

@thekitchensink

When I told him I adressed that in my post, I was referring to this.

"Note: This is all opinion and I hope those who reply take that into consideration before they surely flame me to hell. Also this is in the Sony forum because I'm talking about the first game of the series."

And yes, it is my opinion that if this game was stripped of it's "Disney" ties, and released as a normal RPG, it wouldn't be regarded as a masterpiece.

"Yes, the game fools you. The 86.5 average on Gamerankings means nothing."

So what? Radiata Stories has a 76, and Star Ocean 2 has a 79; and I think that both of those games deserve at least an 86.5%. Dragon Warrior VII is around 80 and I think it should have a 95 average, but really, what are these numbers anyway? The cumulative scores of random people who may or may not be biased?

Oh, I get it now!  It's been a ruse all this time!  People play Kingdom Hearts and THINK that they love it, THINK that they came away with an amazing story, THINK that there were interesting characters, THINK that the combat was fast and fun, but in reality they're completely wrong!

No problem. Glad at least someone agrees with me :)

Anyway, to reiterate/summarize my original argument for those of you who haven't seen this thread:

"My opinion is that Kingdom Hearts is a terrible RPG with a bad battle system and a predictable and overly simplified story with lame characters. it only received it's review rating because of the inclusion of the Disney theme."
