Forums - Nintendo - I finally "played" Wii Fit for more than just a few minutes.

@rocket: Try the other categories that are not about balance games. Like strength training or aerobics or maybe some yoga.

you know, the ones you can select in the beginning.

I think it makes a decent complementary peripheral to a more full workout program.

At the beginning of the summer, I started getting out and running, walking, and playing basketball and soccer (sorry to the rest of the world, but here it's soccer to avoid confusion). I also put in about 20-25 minutes a day on various exercises on Wii Fit. (Primarily the jackknife challenge, and a handful of the other exercises like the lunges and the plank-type exercises.) It wouldn't have been much on its own, but it helped me focus on some muscle groups that my aerobic exercise wouldn't have on its own.

It's not the be-all, end-all program some people may have claimed it would be when it launched, but it's got enough in there to keep a sweat going if you're already coming down off a workout. Plus, the scale is pretty damn accurate, and tracking provides great motivation, which was the main reason I wanted it. Just my $.02 on the matter.

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

I did mess around with it for awhile. My nieces have the game and unlocked most of it, I think.

Even the "strength" exercises were pretty lame. I'll give the yoga stuff a shot and see if I can't manage to cripple my inflexible 6'4" frame.

Cleary you have not unlocked large repetitions of strength training exercises. Advanced yoga poses and aerobics (especially with unlocked advanced levels) do provide a good workout, especially for those not already exercising.

Sure, there are flaws..... no way to program daily routines, too much down time in between exercises, balance games (fun, but not really "fitness"). But if you are saying you can't get a strenuous workout from Wii fit, you CLEARLY need to play it again (and lay off the balance category).

And in agreement with you, the balance board will get the most use from other games utilizing it. A Wario Ware Balance would be enormous fun, Shawn White may not look as polished as the HD versions, but board controls done right could still allow it to be the best version.

Marble Madness 2 has great potential (the first is one of the Wii's most underrated and best games, balance board control will be insane). A proper 3rd party fitness tool that allows programmed routines would be huge.

BAM! There it is!

Well, I played the yoga a bit and Houston, we have a problem...

I'm too tall to do any of the vertical moves. My hands crash into the ceiling. Heh.

Overall, still not really impressed with the game. I still have a few days to screw around with it so I'll try more stuff later.

I don't see Wii fit as a game; I see it more as a peripheral and right now as a excersie program. My routine is of 30 minutes at night: I work first with yoga, then some excersies like the push ups and torsions and finally the hola hoop or rythm boxing. I actually feel great when I started I was 165 pounds, almost 2 months later I'm at 152.

Obiously I'm still playing the all kind of games, but the Wii Fit it's a great option for me because I work almost all day and I don't want to go to a gym at night.

i use wii fit, not as a game itself but as a workout routine.
on first day i make only aerobic workout (around 40 minutes) to lose weight and on the second day i make muscle training (around 15 minutes) and so on the entire week. except on the weekend i sometimes make a break.

all in all i lost 15 pounds with wii fit so far

Improvements are caused by people who complain

I want Shaun White Snowbording, and I want to play it with the BB, but I don't want to spend 90 on the BB. I usually am the first to tell people STFU when it comes to price.

Of course, I'm only saying I won't buy it. I'm not saying that Nintendo should change the price.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

i liked the games

Seriously, what the hell, Nintendo?

There's nothing wrong with expanding the console audience but I just look at this thing and scratch my head. It's one of the more pointless devices I've seen in awhile.

If they actually create some good action/sports games and use the Wii board, it might be interesting. There is potential for actual "fun" in there somewhere, I just know it.

So... you're telling us that you're not totally ripped after a ten minute session?

Uh oh. Nintendo=FAIL

Give it chance, even if it does seem pretty hokey. It's not that bad, but it is pretty hard to keep interested after about two months even if you are taking it dead seriously (using it to actually... you know, exercise).

If nothing else, tell yourself you bought it for the Balance Board and you'll feel better.
