Could sony be branding a whole new range of Playstation phones?

That's the impression I got when I ordered the Sony Ericsson C902 while I browsing the Sony Ericsson site, and came across this:

A Sony Ericsson phone that looks vaguely similar to the PSP, it even has a game button at the bottom left hand corner of the phone, along with the 'X' and 'O' buttons at the top of the handset. The only strange thing is that it only comes with 10mb of on-board storage, but can take m2 cards of up to 4gb.

Could sony be building a new phone range like the walkman and cybershot phone range? If so, who here thinks it could take off? Like I said, they've already successfully pulled it off with their walkman and cybershot branded phones (in europe anyway), could it work with their playstation brand?

Anything could work nowadays..to be honest, there have been cell phone games forever, I'm actually pretty amazed someone hasn't done something like this in the past (as far as the buttons and 'D-Pad')..who knows when/if US will get it though, Europe gets all the neat phones first, or period...half, or more than half, we don't even get=/

It's quite possible. They just take the same route as Nokia took with N-Gage (2). A standard feature in (certain) phones. After all, Sonys idea have been selling software, not hardware.

ehh I don't particularly care for any sony phones.

you will be surprised when you browse media in your new phone. To get people used to the xmb the c902 actually uses something that looks and feels an awful much like it. Only as a media browser though. Aparently it's to get people used to the xmb of the ps3.

As long as Sony dont make it only compatible with other Sony products, as they are known to constantly do, it might do well

@Staude: Actually XMB is supposed to become Sonys standard GUI in all Sonys electronics in the future.

Sorry but this model was actually announced a couple of months ago... its nothing special IMO :) I think I first saw this on pocketgamer.co.uk ;)
