Forums - Sales - MS: Xbox 360 to beat Sony PS3 this holiday

One of MS analysts explains why they feel that the Xbox 360 will beat the Sony PS3 this holiday; Jesse Divnich has said that Sony should worry about Microsoft’s multi-model price cut.

Divnich explains that Sony needs to make another price drop to keep pace with the Xbox 360, also saying that when hardware breaks the (magic) $200 price barrier, history shows a console will take a leap in sales.

Its true that consumer spending is getting weaker thanks to the current credit crunch, recession fears, and increase of bill costs. This weaker environment should help the lowest price games systems to increase market share.

Which console do you think will sell more this holiday, my bets on the Nintendo Wii?

that moron seems to be living in the past.

Wonder how many threads have been made just about the 360 price cut and how it will turn out.

Microsoft is so worried about some magical leap in sales that's going to come once you go from 2 something to 200. We'll see... But who will the real winners be this holiday? The ones that sell the most systems, or the ones that make the most $?

If Sony manages to sell more systems and make more money... Epicness will ensue.

This is just like when MS said the first console to 10 million wins, even though the Wii was catching up when MS finally passed 10 million...

For some reason, they view arbitrary numbers as reasons that their console will win.

The Xbox360 was all set to lose but the price-cut card is a big one. I fear that we could see a surge in XB sales. Sony has better games and more momentum though, its just that they cud have won the war this fall, if they had a better price point, I feel.

MS is grasping at straws on this one. I could see his point if it were the 60gig model going under 200, but this isn't the case. The fact is MS had a better linup of games last year and fell short This year it is still a solid lineup, but not as good as last year and Sony's lineup this year is better than the one they had last year. If MS would not make bold statements like this, then they wouldn't have to put out NPD spin to excuse dissapointment almost every month.

isn't that oppositional? Sony loses money with every console sold so far.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I didn't know Microsoft was hiring comedians, maybe Gilbert Godfrey can get a job there.

PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me

microsoft are pulling bits of sweetcorn out of thier arse!

i do belive however that 360 will have a massive boost from price cut, only a price cut these days sees it over ps3 anyways.

either way every gamer this fall should be happy with thier purchase, be it ps3 or 360!

both consoles that are out on the market have thier fair share of gems this fall

for the 360 you have killer titles like gears 2 and fable 2

and for ps3 you have avalaunch titles like resistace 2, socom , LBP, motorstorm 2

so its good all round.

but im betting on ps3 beating 360 this holiday, but it would be no big suprise if more 360`s sell in usa due to price cut.
