I didn't realize it was so short. It really is this gen's Game Gear.

4-6 hours is good enough in my view. But then if you consider it has a light producing screen and requires you to insert discs which 'spin', then it is only going to last that long. Games stored and ran on the ProDuo will last longer. DS battery life is what? 10 hours?

Neither are anything compared to the original Game Boy so they should both be in shame.

The DS while playing GBA games lasts like 20 hr.

The DS lite while playing DS games lasts fifteen to nineteen hours on the lowest brightness setting and five to eight hours on the highest brightness setting

Now, I agree 4 hours is more than enough for most uses (so long as you don't use it for any media functions) but there is one advantage to the DS, and that is if I have a 2 day trip, I don't have to bring a charger if I keep it on the lowest brightness settings.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Or if you're on a 16 hour flight (which is quite common these days internationally).

That's probably one of 2 things holding me back getting a PSP (Used to be lack of games, battery and size. Now just the last 2) because I have a tendency to forget to take things out of my bad, so where as the DS could stay in there for at least 2-3 days without a charge, PSP would die at the end of the first day (might last for a bit of the second).

Well, the piracy really doesn't help the platform either.

Witness the 'pirates have no shame' thread in which we saw that Patapon had been downloaded over 297000 times from a single torrent (there where more obviously).

That is over half the total sales of the game. And is just one of many torrents for it.

Yeah but dude think about all of the things that the console has to do such as light up an LCD, run UMDs, etc., and all of the functions that it puts in yoru hands.

Factor that in with how long ago the design of the PSP was made and yeh thats pretty much the answer. Hopefully the next handheld from Sony will have iPod like battery life.

Wow, the PSP is worse than the Gamegear, good heavens.

@LordTheNightKnight: You know, DS and PSP are techwise same generation, they both have pretty similar ARM-processors inside, only that PSP have higher specced processors.
Specswise speaking of course, the difference is a little similar than with N64 and PS2 (or DC).
