By your definition, I'd have to say that the PS3 will never achieve that feat.

However, the PS3 is still building steam and is generally doing very well. There's some nice competition between the 360, and it's earning itself a pretty nice catalog of games. So, all in all it's doing well enough erasing it's bumpy beginnings.

Well its doing better than the first year so anything can happen.

What about any of the older consoles as far back as possible, was it always whoever has sold the most after the first couple years is basically going to win the generation or has there ever been an epic comback?

yes.......wii was seen as the underdog.....so was PS1 back in the day

the DS has never been in the last place of a running seeing as when it innitially started there was no competiton.

yes never, but ps3 still got a way to go, 2009 its looking awesome to it.
