Not in the EBgames on my campus. I made a point of asking about it. I even watched a customer come in asking about the price drop, then scoff and leave when he found out it was to $500.
2 PS3's at my Best Buy are really accumulating dust (literally).
I've been watching amazon's stock and they sold about 250 in the last 2 hours. I wanted to wait till tomorrow to really think about purchasing one, but I don't want them to be sold out when I wake up.
Futureshop.com (Canada) had about 41 units in stock earlier today, and they still haven't quite sold them all. Maybe they got a shipment in midway through the day, but I doubt it. This is the website for a major national chain.
On the other hand, Amazon.com is apparently reporting sales up 2400%. No word on how many units were sold before and after, though (after all, going from 2 units sold to 48 is a 2400% increase).
It SHOULD be selling out though, at least for a week or 2. It's not those couple weeks that we should be interested in, as they really don't matter at all in overall sales. What matters is what the number settles at. For that, I'm sticking with my guess of 10-20% weekly sales increase.
At the beginning of the day I looked and saw amazon had 660 in stock, then re-stocked to over 999. Then dropped to 800, then restocked over 999, and now they are at 640. I am guess amazon sold around 1500 units so far. At the very least 800.
how do you check how many units are in stock at amazon?

Put the PS3 in your cart and set quantity to 999. It will show you how many units are currently available for sale.
