Forums - Nintendo - SPOR for Wii - Flop?

I have been hearing a lot of great things about Spore. Unfortunately, I do not have a computer that is good enough to handle the game. I'm also obviousley aware of the fact that the Wii version of the game will not be the same thing as the PC version... but will it just be another really bad Wii port? EA has been known for flopping out on the Wii...but the concept of Spore on Nintendo's console seems meant to be.

My question to you guys is whether or not you think the Wii version will be any good considering it is most likely the version that I will end up purchasing.

Edit - I realize the game's title has an E at the end...but cut me some slack, this is the first thread I've started here ;)

How could a mainstream game like Spore flop on the Wii? Why would it be a a bad port, I thought Wii was getting its own version. Sigh...

Besides EA hasn't been "flopping out" on the Wii as of late. Name me a recent EA game that sold badly.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

It most likely won't get anywhere near the success the PC/MAC version will have, but I don't think it will flop since it has cuteness, brand recognition and casual appeal (things that will help sell on Wii)

Is there even a release date for the Wii version? Last I checked it was still TBA and the project seemed to be on hold.

Since this is such a big game for EA (there was a color picture and an article on page B1 of the Wall Street Journal today), I believe that they will be putting a lot of effort into all versions of the game.

I'm hoping the Wii version is very similar to the PC version, but I haven't really looked into it that much.

Spore won't flop.

There's just no way in hell.

Will Wright/EA declarations are that every version of Spore will be based on the single strenght of the platform where it will be release.
So for example Spore Creatures for DS is different from the PC/Mac version.

Since Wii Wright is a huge Wii supporter as is EA I expect Spore on Wii to be a top notch effort. It should be almost exactly like the PC version. I expect EA will use their own online solution and not use Nintendo's.

How much different is it supposed to be? And how long of a gap will there be between the releases? That will probably answer the question.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

SPOR might.

SPORE, no.
