Forums - Nintendo - are titles like Madworld and The Conduit going to actually sell?

no they likely won't sell well at all. all that sells on the wii are mario games. put the name "mario" in the title and it will sell 3 million.

if they called it Mario's conduit, it'd sell 5 million.

Sad, funny, and somewhat true at the time same, especially the last sentence.

Maybe true, but not sad. Almost all games with "Mario" in their name turns out to be good. The people know that. They don't buy it because Mario is in there but because it would be more likely a good game.

But never mind. I think "The Conduit" will be a million seller if the game turns out to be decent. Mad World is a much more very niche game than the mass marker ego shooter. So I don't know how well this game will sell.

neither will probably make it over 500k. i own no more heroes which is a great game but i think most 'core' gamers have given up on the wii.

no more heroes imo is very similar to assassins creed but a bit more fun, yet look at the difference in sales between them.

as for disaster about the same. all 3 of these games would sell much better on the ps3/360.

No.

But not because Wii is a "CONSOLE FOR BABIES!!!!!!!!" although that's certainly all we'll hear after they don't sell.

They wouldn't sell well on PS3 or 360 either. They are new risky IP's, one from HVS - a developer that has never made a game rated over 80, and to expect 1M+ from either is just silly - even if they were multiplatform.

Now imagine a major game, like GTA V, heading exclusively to the Wii.  Would you even need to ask if it would sell?

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

I doubt they'll sell well.

There's not enough of a core gamer representation in the Wii ownership group for it to sell well in terms of attach rate, but it might do well outright (into the couple of millions at most, which is good).

I think conduit will do better than madworld though, because it'll be shunned by the core if it's gameplay turns out crap AND it'll be shunned by casual because of it's visual content.

Mad World is too stylized and extreme to ever do large numbers. It should hit 300-500k ww and be very happy with that.

The Conduit fills a void and (if good!) should do well as a result. I'd expect 600k-1m. It could prove to have great legs or might die off early if something better comes along. And CoD5, QoS or RS2 might all prove to be better.

Disaster:DoC - it's a Nintendo title and that pretty much guarantees it at least 500k but beyond that too little is known to predict anything. I'm not expecting anything big from it at this point.

How about on every case Nintendo write, From the Creators of MARIO, in big bold letters.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Anybody says that they would do better on the ps3/or xbox are probably wrong especially the conduit since it's getting attention becase it is a good shooter on the wii.Mad world is niche japanasse game which means it will fail on the xbox which of all other games in the same vain has.Ps3 can't sell japaneese games at all outside of japan that doesn't involve the words final fantasy or dragon quest.Diasaster is the only one I 'm might agree on that it has possibility of selling on another console. Also here a liitle tibbit any sega this generation that was on all consoles has always sold better on the wii.

I love fighting games !!! Come on challenge me !

i've heard conflicting reports recently, some saying M+ used, some saying M+ not used,

until i hear further clarification i'll Assume its M+ not used- or atleast not required.

wiispeak is the one that will be used

we -hopefully- will get some hands on previews/impression from PAX about it, since it was one of the top titles featured by nintendo at PAX

that is the one thing we really are missing, hands on with the title. we have previews and dev walkthroughs but no hands on impressions.

If the overall view after hands-on previews are positive, then i expect the game will exceed 1 million rather easily, there are ALOT of Core gamers that are waiting for a quality online shooter for the wii.

we've had a good controlled shooter for the wii online, with crappy graphics (moh:h2) we've had a good looking & controlled shooter/adventure/horror- re4 and mp3. but as of yet we have not had both together in one product.

The Conduit Might be that, COD:World at war might be that as well.

as for madworld, ~500k

I think motion plus requirement on The Conduit, even if it only allows slightly more, will put some people off buying it.

Just seeing they need motion plus for something on the box will put people off who don't have it.

They said they would M+ support of some kind there hasn't been confirmation of it neede it like you know wii sports resort. The only thing i can see being used for more accurate melee attcaks and puzzles but I could be mistaking in it uses for FPS.

If MadWorld does more than 500k lifetime, I would be shocked.

If I hear one more comparison between No More Heroes and MadWorld, I might give up on the gaming community.

No More Heroes sold very well all things considered. Most people never heard of the developer, or the game, and it still became the best selling game from the company. You guys disappoint by trying to spin it into a bad thing. The game was never expected to sell huge numbers in the first place. How could it disappoint?

MadWorld is definitely not going to reach a million without some serious help. If it comes out in summer of next year and saw a price drop around Christmas, it might be able to move some units. Otherwise, I only see around 300,000.

Conduit is for sure a million seller. No matter what people think of Wii demographic, FPS games have become mainstream and casual. That means if the game is even looked upon as having some quality it will shift units. Can anyone argue a more promising game for Wii right now (sales wise)? With a proper price cut, it can make 2,000,000.

Deadly Creatures was mentioned and no matter what THQ does, the game will not appeal to a large number of people. I see the game and think, "How could anyone be seriously interested in that game?" Still, the game should be able to get to around 250,000. I am not seeing it sell much better than that but I never know. Marketing can do amazing things...
