How about we put a price on the amount of time you spent researching and putting this trash together?

+$200

Note: If you have a gaming PC then the
PS3 is the console you want to get not a 360.
Bananas that you put together this machine so you could play.... 360 games?
F that.

Priceless.

For everythign else there's simple online reading skills.

Actually, that $200 should be money saved lol. It's money you don't have to spend on some other person doing it for you. Also, you could then take that knowledge and perhaps do PC work for money for other people.

That figure doesn't include:

- Operating System

- Monitor

- Mouse

- Keyboard

- Speakers

- Wireless Chip

I see you decided to skip on Windows altogether, as well as a mouse and keyboard.

And you're still above the $399 that the PS3 costs. Tsk.

Now, build me a complete PC for $399 that includes the same hardware or better than the $399 PS3 and I'll be impressed.
More so when you beat the $199 Xbox 360.

Remember that Windows will need to be included in that price and that no, not everyone is a student. And no, HD movie downloads is not the same as having a Blu-ray drive.

Soleron, does a PS3 include a keyboard, a mouse, speakers, a monitor? If you're planning on telling him to include the prices of those, then we have to include the prices of controllers, USB keyboards, HDTVs, and stereo systems in the PS3 price. And the cost of getting a mouse + keyboard is null anyhow, since pretty much everybody has ones from their old PC they can swap over.

Geldorn, Windows is not the only operating system that can play videogames. There is a wonderfully free OS called Linux that has programs available for it (again, free) that will make Windows games compatible. And you're right - HD movie downloading isn't the same as having a blu-ray drive. Personally, I think it's better.

also: a blu-ray drive TigerDirect.com is $115.

Why are we having this discussion? There are PC exclusives and their are console exclusives. My guess is that not only do most people on this site own at least 2 consoles, but they also use their PC for gaming. I'm sure opinions differ how often the PC should be updated but I would be surprised if someone was an avid console gamer that absolutely would not use their PC for gaming, other than not having updated their PC in 10 years.

Please stop posting these threads. They're nothing but a handful of PC elitists circlejerking about their SUPERIOR FORM OF GAMING and using more fuzzy math than Al Gore.

For example: The people acting like 1200p is somehow magically light-years better than 1080p. Hint: It's not. In fact, you'd probably have a hard time telling them apart if you saw them side-by-side.

That resolution is about 3,000,000 pixels better than a typical PS3 game. About 4x the pixels, nothing major really. More if you compare games such as COD IV and GTA IV.

@ Billy D

If the Xbox 360 library is better than a PS3s library overall and the PC library includes a majority of the great Xbox 360 games then the PC library is outstandingly better than the PS3 library.

PC gaming does have advantages if you have specific desires - if you're anal about visual quality obviously you'd skip the PS3/Xbox 360, If you're anal about 60fps skip the consoles, If you want mods/user content skip the consoles, if you want to play genres that aren't available on consoles I guess you're skipping as well.

Tease.

Oh, here is another thing the PC can do that the PS3 can't.

Play PS2 games.

No...but a lot of people here are students.

It costs me $10 to buy Windows Vista legally...so no, I would NOT have to include a $200 OS on my system, because then I'd just freaking get Wine or Ubuntu or something. Or wave that pirate flag.

Dude, where did you get Vista for $10 and what version is it?

Vista Home Premium.

Windows XP is also $10.  My college (Purdue Calumet) sells Microsoft products legally for around $10 each, like Office, Windows, etc.

Most colleges have some sort of free or very cheap way to get you Microsoft products.

Oh, and Garcian Smith, there's nothing wrong with this thread.  The fact that people on this site constantly spew lies, such as Windows always costs you $200, is reason enough for an informative thread like this.  I see plenty of console circlejerking enough in the day.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

...all illegally. What's your point?

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

One thing that I love that PC gaming has yet(probably will in the future) to include is renting. I started a GameFly account this month and have already run through 5 games. All of them fun(maybe not Katamari) and all of them full versions.  And with Gamefly I can keep them till I finish them.

Fuck PC gamers (I'm only saying this because no one posted on my Chex Quest thread).
