Depends on one factor:
How much did it cost to produce? How much did it cost to market?
To judge a sales success, we need to know the budget.

"Huge" is when the game sold 10M+. See some of those Nintendo titles for example.
I guess this title would need to sell around 1M to break even. So, selling 2M would be considered a success.
ppl said 'too human would be huge so i aint gonna hold my breath on LBP
The fault of this game: It is obviously not a game for a gamepad console.
This game on the Wii would be a great success. But no one wants to create stages with a gamepad controller. I had the hope that sony will announce a new controller for this game, but that is not the case ... disappointing.
except it to sell 2 million by the end of the year, but i hope im wrong and it sell a lot higher than that
I agree with DMJ. But the key factor here is advertisement. If Sony bundles it and does a lot of adevertising (and good advertising) it can sell really well (at least the first week)
Since the game seems amazing word of mouth will give it good legs.

Only on this site can someone suggest that 2 million is a failure. The bundle puts this game over 2 million.
Week 1: 550k
End of Year: 1.5 million
Lifetime: 2 - 4 million
Metacritic: 91
Common reviewer complaints will focus on awkward camera angles with local co-op and a shallow storyline bolted into the single player experience.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
What utter hypocritical bullshit I have read in this thread. Is Zack and Wiki a flop because it sold under 1M copies? No it is not. It has sold enough copies to earn the developers profit, therefore it is a (moderate) success. Why does LBP need to sell 2M to become a success? This is just Sony haters trying to set the game up, so they can call it a flop.
Media Molecule is a very small team of ex-lionhead developers and some of their friends. This is not a huge budget PS3 game like GTA4, MGS4 etc. I would even say that LBP development costs, is below average development costs for a PS3 title.
Flop: Under 500K
Moderate Success: 501-800K
Big Success: 801K - 2M
Huge Success: 2M+
LBP will PWN sony haters!

The following chart is on the assumption that a game isn't an excessively hyped or of a ridiculously high-budget. If indeed so, Marginal success begins at 3 Million (This is for games such as Halo 3 or GTA 4). These represent lifetime sales.
1 Million -- Marginal success
3 Million -- Moderate success
5 Million -- Strong success
7 Million -- *Huge success
10 Million -- *Blockbuster success
15 Million -- Epic success
20 Million+ -- Legendary success
*Pissy semantic tirade may allow these two classes to switch places
