Ps2 should get a price cut to 99 dollars and it would sell even more.

Sony cant get rid of the PS2 yet but....they need to be showing people why PS3 is a better purchase. Releasing loads of big games on the PS2 in Japan is whats holding back sales of the PS3 in that region

The PS2 is helping Sony out.....by a LOT. They hardly have to sell many consoles at all, yet bring in a lot of software b/c so many people have PS2 hardware units.

So, it is great for profitability and b/c it is last gen and only $100 it definitely has two different trypes of consumers that it is looking for.

Look, having the PS2 bringing in money has helped the PS3 get out of its slump b/c sony is able to invest more in things like HOME or exclusives or whatever. And for the next gen, Sony won't be the only one to take advantage of the previous generation bringing in some mad $$$$. The 360 will still be selling alongside the 720 for at least a couple of years, same thing as the Wii2 and Wii.

I agree, Sony needs to get out of the video game business. :P

Its they're only means of making money in the home console wars now. They shouldn't kill it off. Plus its causing PS3 sales.

Simple question for you, forevercloud3000 would you stop selling something if it was making you lots and lots of profit?

They don't have to considering its still making them a profit, maybe next year or in 2010.

if there was BC on the PS3 i'd say yes cut it as there is an alternative in order to play PS2 games and the userbase would still be growing so developpers would not reduce the amount of games comming.
But as is, the PS2 is in it's own market and does not harm PS3 at all.... the alternative to PS2 would be the Wii or 360 due to the price proximity, not the PS3.

then again... I'm for more titles migrating to wii and 360 since i own them, so yay cut the PS2!!!

It needs to go if the PS3 hopes for a chance:

-It makes extra money for Sony
-But gives frugal consumers no need to upgrade (Whom are the majority).
-No one can assume that 2/3 of the PS2 pie will jump ship to the Wii.
-It will increase next gen console sales by a large amount.
-It will increase next gen game sales by a large amount.

Question: Who cares if the people buy the Wii? They pretty much have this in the bag this gen. Sony needs to get what it can to try and not be snuffed out by Microsoft if you Sony loyalists understand anything.
