The PS2 is helping Sony out.....by a LOT. They hardly have to sell many consoles at all, yet bring in a lot of software b/c so many people have PS2 hardware units.
So, it is great for profitability and b/c it is last gen and only $100 it definitely has two different trypes of consumers that it is looking for.
Look, having the PS2 bringing in money has helped the PS3 get out of its slump b/c sony is able to invest more in things like HOME or exclusives or whatever. And for the next gen, Sony won't be the only one to take advantage of the previous generation bringing in some mad $$$$. The 360 will still be selling alongside the 720 for at least a couple of years, same thing as the Wii2 and Wii.
