Forums - Sales - Mario Kart Wii: The New Gran Turismo

It will be wii's best seller, just behind wii play and wii sports. So 15 millons will be fine to beat gran turismo.

Go buy Metroid OTHER M!

kart isn't a GT.

putting it next to GT is crazy.

kart will sell tons, but somehow double it sales  it was after a good period of time i doubt it unless its bundled.

For me the most impressive thing is that they gonna sell 10 million units at full price.

@ Original poster. I want to flame you for putting Mario Kart and Grand Turismo in the same sentence but I'll let it slide. :P

You might want to check the sales of Mario Kart DS. Mario Kart is very much in the same league as Gran Turismo.

At the rate it is going it would reach 10.5 million before January.... WITHOUT a Christmas boost.

With a healthy boost it should be knocking on the door of combined GTAIV numbers, around 11.5 million.

If it follows the path of MKDS it could be at almost 20 million by the end of 2009... but I don't feel it will manage that because MKWii had a larger launch.

However 15 million shouldn't take too long. Seems there are a lot more Mario-boys than Crazzyman suspected.

it could

but one is an Arcade Racer using many Nintendo Mascots and one is a Simulation Racer using real Cars. They may both involve racing but they're not exactly a great comparison.

Now here is the real question, if GT was a Nintendo game and was the exact same style of game but used Nintendo characters, how well would that sell?

They are two completely different games catering to two completely different segments. Sales, yes they are in the same league. But to compair their sales is just this side of silly. Twisted Metal would be a better game to compair it to in the least. You know, maybe a racing game that uses weapons and power ups. Not a Racing SIMULATION compaired to a Party Racing/Weapons game.

On another note, I would think the market share for the party casual game would be a little biger then the hardcore Simulation, wouldnt you?

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

They're both racers.  They both sell incredibly well.  They're both first party titles.

Why CAN'T I compare them?

Pixel Art can be fun.

I doubt it.

Somebody has to stand up for a PS3 exclusive when its drawn into battle

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
